Looks great, Steve! This is the first close-up photo I've seen of the new CP inlays; kudos to Ben for resurrecting them. :D How does the Panda Bear feel about your new bass? Sorry Jeff, forgot to reply... its actually a "knit it yourself badger" that my wife made, but im sure he approves ...

Which dealer did you buy from
HI! It was a UK dealer, Sound Affects. They'd knocked 24% off the original RRP, presumably due to the release of the new 4005's being imminent and the fact they had 5 of them... great guys, i recommend them.

NBD - 4005XC Amber Fireglo

Well, whoops - I bought one, and im very glad I did! This is an amazing instrument. It feels great - I cant describe it, just really well contstructed and "Premium" (which youd expect considering the price!) Even the rear of the bass has been bound at the edges with the classic Ric checker...

Re: Is it happening? A new 4005?!

Update: £5799 from Sound Affects / Ormskirk, UK..! What is most interesting about their page is that they still have FIVE of the 4005XC's and they have dropped the price of them by £1200...! Are they just not popular with anyone because they are short scale? Id love to try one... im more a long sca...

Well they definitely stayed true to their word on that... in the UK at least!

Re: Is it happening? A new 4005?!

A dealer here ive used before thinks based on the RRP hes been quoted by the distributor that the UK price will be £5999/£6299.

If thats true im totally out of buying one, that's crazy money.

Re: Is it happening? A new 4005?!

I can only presume the Rosetti price here in the UK is very, very, VERY wrong if you guys in the states are getting told about $4K on your pre-orders...

4005XC

These have come down *a little* in price in the UK now, surprisingly (if you look around on the net). So im *a little* tempted by them... anyone else out there got one already? Mainly im interested in the weight of it, how it sounds acoustically (and is it loud?), what the case looks like (and if it...

"Pillar Box Red" has also been a special edition colour here in the UK, you can still see a fair few of these for sale at the big vendors...

Re: 1980 4001 - no side fretboard markers?

You are right sir - there is a slight change in the binding colour from the side to the edge. The older binding on the top edge is yellowed a lot more, indicating its age (I think)
