Re: Looking for a 1960s Rose Morris hard case

3 years late to this one but I can confirm that my January '64 RM 1998 originally had a silver/blue case. It is probably around somewhere. It was stolen at a gig back in '77 - my back up was in it at the time (a Shaftesbury) as was, unfortunately, the original term arm. The Ricky was stopped to me o...

Re: 'guitarguitar' of the UK and duty question

If you come over here in person, then you get to purchase "vat free", which reduces the point of sale price by 20%. All advertised consumer retail prices in the UK have, by law, to include the VAT. To be honest though, why would you want to? The prices over here are not exactly bargain bas...

Re: Commemoration - Your Guitar's Manufacture Anniversary

Nice, David! Are you the original owner? I wish!! (but I was only 8 years old when she was created). I bought her with my first month's pay packet back in September '75 - so I've had her a good long time. She still plays really well and has good intonation in a studio environment. TBH she was alway...

Re: Commemoration - Your Guitar's Manufacture Anniversary
Is the back of the neck stripped of it's FG, too?
It's not had THAT much use!! I don't know how the front of the headstock got to lose its coat - in fact it's not all gone, there is some remaining by the low E peg, and it's all in place under the TRC. The sides of the HS have also b...

Re: Buzzcocks!!

Good to see a bit of the Irwell sound from a Ric instead of that inferior Mersey stuff!!!

Makes mine feel at home - it followed and shared stages with this lot throughout the Manchester punk revolution in late '76 and early '77 - my Ric probably remembers more of it than I do!!

Re: The Pretty Things

There's an acoustic 12 string on here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Zkau7LRCdw not a Rick though. Can't find any evidence of Rickenbacker's on You Tube from any of their 60's stuff - mainly a Tele and 335 combination.

Re: The Pretty Things

"Don't bring me down" was the first 45 that I ever owned - I remember winning it on a Welsh Fairground and playing it to death for ever afterwards - I still have it and it still graces the Sondek on a regular basis - I thought that they were great! David Bowie payed them the greatest of re...

Re: Favorite dirt pedal with Ric

Tech 21 GT2 and Fender Stage 112 if feeling solid state, Meza Boogie V Twin into a Peavey Classic 30 if feeling in a valve mood. Also happy to put the V Twin into the Fender or the GT2 into the Peavey. All combinations can go from silky smooth to phenomenal overdrive (not necessarily a nice overdriv...

Re: 330: any reason why it wouldn't be a good first electric?

Buy with your ears Chris. All guitars sound different relative to each other. I'm lucky enough to own a Les Paul and a Strat as well as my Ricky and several others. If you play a chunky necked Gibson acoustic then you'll like a Les Paul, but theyre heavy and imo sound best when cranked up, not neces...

Re: Is a 360 You Main Gigging Guitar?

I gigged my 1998RM (1964 vintage) night in night out for four years in the 70's. I've gigged it a lot less in recent years, using an LP standard or a mid 90s usa strat with texas specials instead. To be honest I play live in front of people only once or twice a year now but I still jam regularly in ...

Re: RM 1998 Nut question

Got the nut sorted today, A major thanks is due to Robbie at Rickysounds for dropping everything at a moments notice and performing surgery there and then! The rest of the patient got a thorough check over too - it's first in a long long time. It's now back in good health with all the proper grommet...
