Re: Walnutglo (solid) Finish

Thanks, I will watch your videos so I dont end up with the long scale toothpick. My worry is getting the finnish right so the end grains dont look weird but you will still be able to see the grain through the finnish like the link in my first post.

Re: Walnutglo (solid) Finish

Thanks a lot for the repsonse! My only concern is that there has been a preveous stain applied to the bass, and while I have got most of the stain out from sanding and scrubing with acetone, the end grains are still pretty dark alomost black. So I wonder if it would be better to apply a dark walnut ...

Also I need to pull the truss rods to unbend them and rethred them is it okay to leave the rods out of the neck for an extended amount of time or should ...

Re: Flea Market 4001 restoration

If I am not able to get most of the really dark stains out any suggestions on what my best approach to restortions this bass should be. If i cant get the stains out enough to to mapleglo would burgundyglo be a fesible color to finnish this bass? Acetone does seem to help to cut the stain somewhat. I ...

Re: Flea Market 4001 restoration

I have got alot of the stain out I will post pictures when I get home from work. I have had some success using powdered chlorine in lightening the stains. Flea Market 4001 restoration

I am new here and starting my first restoration project on a 1972 4001 rickenbacker bass. So here is the back story. For sale at the local flea market was the rickenbacker and a Fender Bass VI for $700 so I grabbed them up, the bass VI was in almost perfect condition but the Rick had been stripped ...
