Re: Cost To Refinish 4003S Jetglo?
P.S. On the Rickenbacker forum, my IP has been blocked with a reference to something called "spamhaus". What is the deal with that?
Your IP address has (somehow, don't ask me how) been added to the blocklist of spamhaus.org. The only way to get taken off it is to contact them via their website ...

I'm guessing George is the boy on the left, yes? I must confess, I would never have recognised him.

Re: Can I buy a P-Bass?
I know they both have a 34" scale length, so I don't anticipate any issue there
I have bad news. They have different scale lengths: Rick basses are 33 1/4 inches. This critical three-quarter-inch discrepancy will sabotage any hopes you might have of being able to play either instrument with any ...

Re: 1 off 3503 bass
Kind of strange pickguard shape at the back. Covering up a lot of real estate with a piece of plastic. I'd rather see something more like we see on a 4003 or more like on the six and twelve string guitars have, like I did on my 2030.
Agreed. That is a beautiful bass, thoroughly ruined by a plug ...

Not surprised - I love my Epi Jack Casady (and there never was a Gibby version of it). Lovely instrument.Korladis wrote: Fri Aug 12, 2022 10:09 pmin all honesty I like the higher end epiphone t-birds I've played more than the gibson ones.

Re: Rickenbacker To Stop Lacquering Fretboads Starting Now
On all my basses with unlacquered rosewood or ebony fingerboards, I use a product called "Dunlop 02 Deep fingerboard conditioner". It's a light oil-based product. You apply it straight to the wood (the bottle has a felt pad applicator), then leave it to soak in a while before wiping away any surplus ...

Very swanky. Like it.
Except for the knobs. I'd swap 'em out for the vintage black ones.

I must say, this is very dispiriting news, Robert. I will certainly be in no hurry to purchase a V2 tailpiece, having seen your video.

Thanks for providing this link. It's an excellent radio doc. I must correct one small factual error, though. Penny Lane is not named after a slave trader. Its name existed long before his time and refers to the fact that it was a toll-road.

Re: Knobs
I hadn't realised that RIC had started doing this. Whatever they do, they're going to please one bunch of people and displease another. FWIW, my personal preference has always been for the vintage black knobs. I love the look of them, and IMHO the line on top makes it easier to see what position any ...

Are you worried that it might be a stolen instrument or something? If I was in your shoes, it would already be in my hands!

Have always been a fan of G+L basses: lovely quality instruments (including the Tribbies, on the whole!) - and that one's a beauty, especially the woodgrain. Tasty!
