Thanks Brian. There's also one on ebay right now that's very similar in color to mine.

Re: Can you tell me about this?

Christopher, welcome to the Forum and to the wonderful world of Rickenbackers.

Since you live in our Los Angeles area, we would like to invite you (and your 50's Ric 425) to meet and greet fellow Forum members and Ric enthusiasts at our upcoming Confluence ---- SCARF (the seventh annual Southern ...

Re: Can you tell me about this?

Thanks for all the comments guys - Rich, I'll keep Aug 6th in mind. I guess I'll contact you through this forum and let you know when I know. Brian, thanks for the pic's...that's a sweet guitar, very nice condition! I'm afraid mine has a little more "character" Here's the pic's I promised you ...

Re: Can you tell me about this?

Thanks Paul. I understand the beauty of patina, leave it alone it is.

Thanks for the invite Rich, I will consider it. But I don't know about me playing, it's been a very long time since I touched a fretboard - and even then, it was just to pluck around on. My primary instrument was the piano, and ...

Re: Can you tell me about this?

Thanks guys. Grampa bought this "after the war" (Korean), and I have some pic's somewhere of him playing it. His hands were shot from arthritis when he gave it to me. My primary concern is the oxidation around the bridge. The guitar is in LA now (little humidity) but was stored in Oakland, where I ...

Re: Can you tell me about this?

Thanks for the responses, guys. You all are correct, it's a C, not a zero. My bridge is starting to oxidize, and the numbers are not clear. I was given this guitar by my grandfather sometime in the '80s. Due to life I stopped playing, and I haven't played it in 20 yrs. It's been in storage for about ...

Re: Can you tell me about this?

Thanks for the response, guys. I found the serial numbers and used them on the decoder on the rick website, but no luck. It mentions something about some instruments from the late 50's cannot be interpreted... do you think that may be the problem here? There are 2 rows of numbers: 4 0 on top of 1 8 ...

Can you tell me about this?

Hi all. I'm new to this site, and basically new to the world of Rickenbacker as well. Can anyone help me with ID-ing this guitar? I think this is a late 1950's 425, but I'd like to confirm or deny that. And how can I tell what year this is from? I believe everything is original but the pic-guard. If ...
