Re: 4005 double bound

I just found the register. So I've seen the auzerglo. Also saw a lightshow! WOW. Is that the only 4005 lightshow? Not sure I'd want to own that one. Persoanlly I like Graham's 1974 Burgundy the most very classy looking. I'll be buying a Maple or a flireglo....Graham if you own that burgundy & ever ...

Re: 4005 double bound

Hey Graham;

Your site is GREAT! Do you own the 1974 4005WB? What is that burgundyglo? Ever see a 4005 in azurglo (blue)?? I bet that would be interesting. I have a 1978 4001 in that color. Again Great site I really enjoyed looking thru it! Russ

Re: 4005 double bound

Are the double bound 4005's rarer and/or more valuable?

Re: 4005 double bound

Thanks guys! I really look foward to a Rick Bass book. I almost bought a late 1950's Capri several year ago because I love the look but I didn't because I couldn't justify buying it for the looks. I'm a bass player!

4005 double bound

Were double bound 4005 basses made at the same time as the countured body ones? Are they rarer than the countoured body? I really need to get Richard Smiths book!

Ric Bass sound one model to another

I have a 1978 4001 that has that classic Ric early Geddy Lee growl. I am looking at buying a 1960s 4005 with toaster pickups. How does the sound compare to a 1970's 4001?

Carved top

I've owned a 4001 for a while but I am entertaining purchasing a 1960's 4005 since i came into some $$. I was wondering are the 4005's carved or plywood tops?

Re: How much would you pay for a reissue?

I would only go for the 4005. I guess I would pay $4000 seeing as how they are fetching twice that or more for originals. I have heard that the company says no chance of re-issuing that model.
