There's the old girl!

What a cool looking bass!

I wish you smooth sailing on your project and a result that brings many years of happy playing.

Gotta love how Youtube makes you watch a commercial in order to see a commercial, BTW...

4001V63FG makes appearence on SW Airlines commercial

Hey Peeps! I flipped on the tube for a few minutes tonight and immediately was treated to this commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EtLQCQb3wI It features a later (1998-2002) 4001V63FG with a fake (paper?) TRC and two holes in the pickguard where a tug bar used to be. Did/does it belong to a...

Re: Pickguard question

I remember seeing photos on this forum once upon a time with arrows pointing to the humps. And for the record, I prefer no bloated pick guard humps. It isn't something that I obsess about. It's not something that's going to change my life one way or the other. But I do think that the pick guard cont...

Re: 4001C64S neck finish

Mine has done that too. It's inevitable. What's going on is that the whole bass including the fretboard was finished in that clear matte sealer coat. The more you play it (and they DO love to be played), the more your fingers buff out that matte finish and make it shiny. Mine is also getting shiny o...

Re: 4001V63 vs. 4001C64

...but then most of the '73s I've played (my 4000 being the exception) have had necks ranging from chunky to very big too, much bigger than the '72s and earlier I've played... Well that's interesting. My '72 neck (June, with skunk stripe) is much larger than my '73 neck (July). They're both great n...

Re: Fitted Hard Shell Case for 4001

1979 is the earliest? I don't really know, but my March '73 4001 came with one but I suppose it may not be original to that bass. I'm not positive Jeff, but I don't think they were around that early. I guess I just came to that conclusion from years of scouring ebay listings and from the 4001's tha...

I don't think you have to worry about VD, Jason. The seller says that "the neck is chunky but really comfortable in the hand."

Re: Fitted Hard Shell Case for 4001

Do you mean this type of case? http://www.rickresource.com/register/user_images/3826/4-fullsize.jpg http://www.rickresource.com/register/user_images/3826/11-fullsize.jpg RIC used them from around 1979 to around 1987. If you look hard enough one might eventually turn up on ebay, but they can get kind...

Re: Levi's commercial

Back to the original topic...I was in my local Levi's store last week and noticed some print ads hanging on the wall that featured a couple Ricks. I don't remember who the band was and I can't find the photos on the internet. It might have been The Jam. But here's another Levi's ad I found featuring...

Re: Levi's commercial

Off topic, but it reminds me: for the first time in a couple of decades, I'm going to need to purchase a couple of pairs of blue jeans. Yes, to me, that is two halves of one word. My favorite are Levi's 505's. They used to be the same as the 501's, just with a zipper instead of the button fly. Are ...
