Re: RRF 20th Anniversary 2000-2020
Congratulations Peter! I remember almost 15 years ago when Rickenbacker sent you one of their new guitar stand/cases full of schwag that we all signed from their 75th Anniversary confluence. Can you post a pic of it with all of the signatures?

Re: Capacitor manufacturer?
I should clarify that the turquois caps were made by Seacor, and used up until around 1970. After that, RIC used yellow Cornell-Dubillier caps in the .0047uF value. I have NOS stock of both caps.

Re: Capacitor manufacturer?
I have several of these NOS .0047 caps in stock. These were used in all 4001's till about 1985, and guitars up untill the early 70's.

Re: Information wanted: Wiring of a '58 or '59 Capri
Many thanks! Some confirmation and a lot of new insights. Great! That helps me very much. Now I found a wiring that seems to be the way they used in the early days. I don't want to buy it - I prefer to solder my own one with the parts I like most. It's this: That wiring harness is not correct. It i...

Re: Information wanted: Wiring of a '58 or '59 Capri
I build reproduction wiring harnesses for C58's that are the same. It's really just a 4001S harness with the tone pots wired backwards.

What well known neckdive issue?Winston Smith wrote: I thought about the ultralite machineheads because I'd really like to resolve the well known neckdive issue. Anyway...it's not that bad though...BUT it will surely worsen if I install a lighter bridge assy.

Re: Tail lift on a 1998 4003 bass
Or you can save yourself a lot of $$$ by adding two screws to the rear of your tailpiece as seen on early 4003 tailpieces. You'll need to carefully bend your tailpiece back into shape.

Re: V2 tailpiece installation on 4001V63 and CS - photos
The new V2 bridge is so much more stable and functional, yet still looks like a RIC part. If you put one on a C64 or 4001CS, you can still notch the center tooth over the mute as a nod to authenticity.

Re: 1972 4001s project advice
If you replace the bridge for now,you might eventually be able to get the original re-plated. I think (did Dane Wilder say it?) its possible to use a modern bridge and saddles on an old aluminium tailpiece by the way so you could get the bass up to vintage spec. Best wishes on the project! If you m...

Re: Mastery Bridge: Does It Make A Difference?
The mastery bridge has two saddles with two height adjustment screws that hold three strings each. As far as I know, the saddles aren't curved, so each trio of strings sit on the same plane, not a curve. So, it's not possible to adjust the intonation and height of each string separately, and have th...

Re: 4001 C64 tailpiece replacement?
If you can do it with a drill press that has depth stop on it, that will be much safer. Good luck, Dirk You can't use a drill press for this because the rear of the tailpiece where these two screws go is not level with the top of the body. The holes need to be drilled and countersunk at an angle wh...

Re: Questions regarding a Rickenbacker 4001v63
Former RIC employee Mark Arnquist has performed this fix many times, and I've done it on my 8-string conversions. I believe it's the only fix that will permanently fix your problem.

Did you solder the pickup to the pickup selector switch like a Rick, or to the pots like a Gibson?

Re: 325C64 Pots
Vintage spec was 500k for tone, and 250k for volume controls. All current RIC supplied pots are advertised at 330k, but actually spec out at around 275k. Don't be surprised if the tone of your guitar isn't as bright as you thought it'd be.
