Re: The Book is alive!
I received my copy, pre-ordered on Amazon, a couple of days ago, Paul, and am enjoying working my way through it at the moment. The finished product is fantastic, no doubt reflecting what must have been a massive effort in pulling it all together and ensuring that it came out as comprehensive ...

Great news, Paul – congratulations! I've just logged on to Amazon, searched on "The Rickenbacker Electric Bass - 50 Years As Rock's Bottom", and pre-ordered a copy - keenly anticipating its arrival in due course!

Re: 2011 JG 4003 in action....
LOL....yeah I have a dozen of those straps and they are on all six of my basses and both guitars......wish there were Ric straps.
No you don't. A Rick strap on the bass would cut hard on the shoulder after half a set.
And John is so right here, I have genuine Ric straps for both my basses but ...

Re: Centre toggle position = lower volume .... why?
I have a couple of customised V63s, Greg, with additional Hi-Gain between neck toaster and bridge horseshoe, controlled with individual selector switches. Each pick-up is set to a height that balances for output level with the other pick-ups (which required replacement of the original horseshoes ...

Re: V63 Scratchplate?!?
Hi Tom,
I had to make tracings of the scratchplates on my 1993 MapleGlo V63 and my 2001 FireGlo V63 when having Tony at PickGuardian make up some custom replacements for me to accommodate master Volume, master Tone, and individual selector switches for toaster, horseshoe, and Hi-Gain installed in ...

Re: What recordings do you listen to when you wanna hear a Ric?
As well as Sir Paul and Pete Quaife, the other magic tone that got me lusting after Rick basses was Bernie Calvert with The Hollies. Check out "He Ain't Heavy", "I'm Sorry, Suzanne", "Jennifer Eccles" and any number of other Hollies hits – no mistaking it when Bernie was wielding his Rick! (a 4000 ...

Re: Paul Boyer's book
Fantastic news, Paul (and about time too, all considered!) Please let us know as soon as it's available, and I'll be mightily pleased to take a couple of copies and a couple of bass time-line posters off your hands! (you wouldn't charge us extra for signed copies, now, would you?!)
