Re: Chewin' the Fat about Rickenbacker
... during Ben Hall's tenure they've reissued the 4005, which I never thought would happen. Still haven't seen one in the wild but I'd like to try one if I ever get the chance.
I'd like to check out the 4005V, also. The only 4005s I have played have been old ones, like mine, and others at ...

Re: The "magnet trick"
If I recall correctly, the only potential drawback, from discussing this with John Hall, is if the magnet is too strong, then the magnetic pull can limit string vibration.

Re: Polishing out swirls & scratches on black 330?
At Paul W’s recommendation, I have been using Meguiar's Swirl-X, or Nu Finish Scratch Doctor, followed up with Zymol wax.
I had a couple of older ricks with clearcoat haze similar to what you described the above worked.

Re: Any More News on the return of the 4005?
Since deliveries of the 4005 reissue have commenced, now might be a good time for those who have purchased the 4005 reissue to comment on their impressions, with maybe some specifics, and perhaps video… Something slightly more informative than “Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow!”

Re: White 350v63
^^^ Exactly! Hmm; I do have another set of factory-sprayed, one-off, silver guards and TRC. The white Rick with Silver Guards may have inspired me to install the silver guards and TRC on my snowglow Fabgear 360.

Saw and played the bass at NAMM; no release date was announced; “we’re thinking about it” was essentially the answer, if I recall correctly, with respect to the release date.

Re: Mastery Bridge: Does It Make A Difference?
No drilling or grinding should be needed; I just did the folowing a minute ago: Place the factor bridge cover on the MAstery Bridge. Center one hole, install one screw about half way, then place the other screw in the opposite hole, gently press down and slightly outward on the the screw with the ...

Re: Gene Clark
If I had a three-pickup Rick I'd want to be able to have five settings, similar to a Stratocaster. Jeff LEvenson said this could be accomplished with the existing 3-way toggle by using push-pull volume pots for the the neck and bridge pickups. Since I own only double-bound models, it is unlikely I ...

Re: NGD: Turquoise 330
Cool! COngrats. Gold guards look great on TUR btw. Oven knobs too, just hide the 5th knob in the cavity and use some masking tape to hold it in place.
What J-Dog said; for about a year I had Gold Guards and Oven knobs on my TUR WB ... which, conicidentally, I bought from J-Dog (I bought Gold ...

Re: 360/12 - TI Flats or Compressed Roundwounds
For my 12-strings, I like either the Rick compressed rounds, D'Addarion 10-46, or the Ernie Ball 8-42 set. The light gauge on the Ernie Ball set is great for players who like to bend on a 12-string-easy bending!
