Re: Any More News on the return of the 4005?

Saw and played the bass at NAMM; no release date was announced; “we’re thinking about it” was essentially the answer, if I recall correctly, with respect to the release date.

Re: Mastery Bridge: Does It Make A Difference?

No drilling or grinding should be needed; I just did the folowing a minute ago: Place the factor bridge cover on the MAstery Bridge. Center one hole, install one screw about half way, then place the other screw in the opposite hole, gently press down and slightly outward on the the screw with the sc...

Re: Gene Clark

If I had a three-pickup Rick I'd want to be able to have five settings, similar to a Stratocaster. Jeff LEvenson said this could be accomplished with the existing 3-way toggle by using push-pull volume pots for the the neck and bridge pickups. Since I own only double-bound models, it is unlikely I'l...

“... a couple of morons over at TalkBass...” Some folks might think that’s redundant. 🤣

Kidding aside, a reissue 4000-something, eh? I like it!

Re: NGD: Turquoise 330

Cool! COngrats. Gold guards look great on TUR btw. Oven knobs too, just hide the 5th knob in the cavity and use some masking tape to hold it in place. What J-Dog said; for about a year I had Gold Guards and Oven knobs on my TUR WB ... which, conicidentally, I bought from J-Dog (I bought Gold Guards...

Re: 360/12 - TI Flats or Compressed Roundwounds

For my 12-strings, I like either the Rick compressed rounds, D'Addarion 10-46, or the Ernie Ball 8-42 set. The light gauge on the Ernie Ball set is great for players who like to bend on a 12-string-easy bending! :)

Re: The "magnet trick"

I've used the "magnet trick" on the underside of a couple of instruments; currently, I think just on my rick 381V69/12; the bridge and neck pickups have the same output ohms, but the bridge did not sound as loud due to proximity to the bridge, so I placed a ceramic bar magnet on the unders...

Re: Strings: Are plain / unwound 3rds / Gs ever preferable?

I've almost always used a plain "G" string. I think the only exception is with my `62 USVRI Mary Kay Stratocaster; for a time when I was playing a lot of clean guitar with minimal bending, I used an .011-052 string set, which included a plain "G" and a wound "G" in the ...

Re: Ric 330, Vox AC30, and TS808

It is not mutually exclusive to: Like and play the “classic Rick sound.” Like the sound of “screaming rock tones” (and play them). Want to play screaming rock tones and leads on a Rickenbacker. I have two Les Pauls, but I have 8 Rickenbackers; Ricks are more unusual- looking, visually striking, and ...

Re: Roll Call !!

Ditto what Admin. said; thanks for your thoughts, Bob! I similarly appreciate the Fab Gear limited runs. They are, relatively speaking reasonably priced! The sno-Glo 4003 was extremely tempting. though I ultimately passed on buying one. After gazing at the photos of the Jetglo Fab Gear 360 for a cou...

Re: Roll Call !!

Still here. Just had Big Red set up; neck adjustment, fret leveling, intonation, and both toasters wax potted to eliminate squeal when using overdrive, distortion, clean boost, or dome combination of the three. I can use a lot more saturation now, which really sounds great with the 14K, overwound br...
