Just saw this Roxy Music from ‘74 (with Sal Maida?). Nice looking Rickenbacker!

Re: Höfner files for bankruptcy
We’re most familiar with Hofner basses but the company also makes orchestral instruments. It’s not hard to imagine that Chinese companies are eating into Hofner’s market in that area as well. Forty years ago school systems bought Hofner double basses, now it’s Shen.

Re: How many 610 owners are there?
An old thread but thought I would contribute this pic of my 610:
It’s from November, 1996.
Very fun to play. I purchased it from the Music Connection in the late ‘90s.
The amp is a Lectrolab, Sound Projects R100B

Re: Sale?
$3K totally seems like an appropriate price for a 4005v. I’m hoping for the reissue 4002 in “S” livery that were seen in photos a couple of years ago. If they could make a fretless batch that would cinch it for me.
And I agree that there are plenty of “youngsters” interested in play rock and every ...

I bought a 610 from the Music Connection. I spent time browsing there, for sure.

Re: String Poll for Rickenbacker Bass Players
After much curiosity and at long last I put a set of Optima RB4000 on the 4003fl. The Optima’s immediately reminded me of what I’ve always loved about TI Jazz Flats: Their quality and consistent feel across all four strings and the refined sound, once again, consistent from string to string. So, a ...

Re: what I can hear on Beatles records
I just read Barry Miles’ biography of McCartney and another of his books called, In the Sixties. They really opened my eyes to McCartney and what he was/is about. I like him even more now, and I’m a fan from, like, forever! Another thing I just discovered is that it was the rock and roll journalist ...

It was handy on the fretted, but unnecessary on the fretless.

Re: Why do RICs click? RIC Newbie
Your post piqued my curiosity about the acoustical differences in volume levels between my Ric 4003fl and fretted '75 Fender Jazz Bass. Before comparing, some details: The 4003fl has a rosewood fingerboard, the Jazz Bass' is maple. Both basses have been strung with TI flats. They each feature ...

Let's not stop with Bruce. What kind of pickups are on Paul's guitar? That isn't a standard finish!
