Re: what I can hear on Beatles records

I just read Barry Miles’ biography of McCartney and another of his books called, In the Sixties. They really opened my eyes to McCartney and what he was/is about. I like him even more now, and I’m a fan from, like, forever! Another thing I just discovered is that it was the rock and roll journalist ...

Re: Who uses the damper?

It was handy on the fretted, but unnecessary on the fretless.

Re: Why do RICs click? RIC Newbie

Your post piqued my curiosity about the acoustical differences in volume levels between my Ric 4003fl and fretted '75 Fender Jazz Bass. Before comparing, some details: The 4003fl has a rosewood fingerboard, the Jazz Bass' is maple. Both basses have been strung with TI flats. They each feature factor...

Re: Bruce Foxton 4001 Bass Butcher

Let's not stop with Bruce. What kind of pickups are on Paul's guitar? That isn't a standard finish!

I happened across this photo and the Ric jumped out at me before I could recognize the people!

Re: String Poll for Rickenbacker Bass Players

Thanks for that, H the H. Sorry it's taken so long to respond. I like the concept of the Optima RB set being a tad more robust on the D and G. As much as I love the TI, the G can sound a bit thin to me, sometimes.

Re: PAUL WILCZYNSKI RETURNS

Hi, Paul, what an interesting read of your travels and travails, and glad to know that all is right in the end. That whole COVID experience had such an impact on everyone, and we're all still feeling the ramifications. Facebook has had an "off odor" since it's inception. It kept me from cr...

Re: Fretless Ric bass questions.

The oldies gig went very well with lots of compliments on the sound of the bass, especially on the ballads. A "qualified listener" was knocked out by the Ric, reaffirming the authentic string bass tone. I did up the balance to the front pickup on those ballads.

Re: Treble Bezel by Tubeampology

Congrats on your new bass, hope it's a beaut. I've had the bezel with the indentation for your thumb on my 4003fl forever. It's a great product. Thanks Frank!
BTW: Are you using a tubeampology bezel, and if so, which flavor?
