Re: Get A Load Of This You Tube Joker
I love Ric basses. The 1st time I picked up a 4001 in 74' to try out an amp, I forgot about the amp & bought the bass. When it comes to the guitars, I had the same reaction as his. I was baffled by the 5th knob & found the necks small & weird. He's not knocking the guitars, he just could...

The all parts bridge has the rattling saddle problem that the Rickenbacker bridges had at one time. They picked the wrong bridge to copy. lol

Re: 3 Short scale 4030 basses
I think that if you're going to use a 30" scale neck, the body should be smaller too. The proportions of these basses bug me. On a side note , I've never liked the bass & guitar playing the same riff. So I find it humorous that Death from above & Royal blood simply got rid of the guitar...

Re: Wiring with custom pickups?
As the Bartolini 6RT is designed to replace the neck Hi-gain, it can be wired the same. I like the Bartolini but some people feel they sound sterile. I personally like the Joe Barden better. It sounds like a hi-fi, hi-gain, without the 60 cycle hum.

Re: 4004cii ordering
I personally think the 4004 body contours look better than any other Ric bass. Still you rarely see them in the wild. 4003s's however weren't uncommon. When they decided to stop production of the "S" for lack of interest, I was surprised the 4004's were still being produced. The "S&qu...

Re: Very nice early '68 4001 at Willie's Guitars
It makes sense that when a note is fretted the nut is out of the equation. But...... if the nut is metal & the fret is metal the consistency between the notes would improve. It's entirely possible that an aluminum nut could sound closer to normal fret material. Given the difference in vibration ...

Rickenbacker doesn't sell seconds. So much for that theory.

Re: JK 381 5th knob
C. Passive mode (standard output jack) clearly explains what the little bugger does in each position. I'm assuming fully clockwise is the the final position explained in active mode.

I was looking at the pictures & thinking how strange. Then I picked up my Danelectro Longhorn bass & realized the neck hung over on both sides .

How long have they been doing the body contour for the jack plate blend like that? Never noticed it before.

Re: Would these pup replacements solve my 4003 pup noise?
The JBE pickups are dead quiet & sound great. With the HB-1's it depends on the sound you're after. While a lot of people love them, I hated them. I found them to be midrange heavy & light on the highs. I tried Dane's pot & cap values & while closer to what I wanted, still didn't get...

Re: Rickenbacker 4001 v63 truss rod advice... Help!!
It almost appears like the rods were either threaded or inserted into the plate, welded to the plate, then ground down. Would that be necessary? Do the rods spin in normal adjustment? If the rods were simply threaded into the plate would they eventually spin out of it? One of the rods on my bass is ...

Re: Rickenbacker 4001 v63 truss rod advice... Help!!
Wow. These appear to be the new style rods. But..... Rickenbacker doesn't use brass nuts. Not to mention, at the body end, there should be acorn nuts & washers. There were some basses that had soft wood at the body end of the neck & the rods pulled towards the headstock. I'm thinking this wa...

Re: Bad fret job. Need advice :)
It would most likely cost you more in time & or money to fight it than it's worth. If it bothers you so much that it takes away from the playing experience, then sell it & take a loss. Other wise, time to put the issue to bed & enjoy the fact that it plays well now. It sucks, but most of...
