I have a couple of basses with the old style rods and find they’re incredibly stable . I’ve only had to adjust my 4001 twice . The first time was about twenty five years ago , the second was last year .

The skunk stripe has returned , and I’ve heard that basses will now be built with a single truss rod . Will you still be able to easily remove the truss rod with the new design ? I asked at Rickenbacker’s official Facebook page , but haven’t seen any response and their website seems abandoned . Perhaps with all of the recent changes they might update the site .

It was fifteen last March , I had been looking for a 4001 for some years . Not many came up for sale here in Nova Scotia but I finally managed to find the one . I still have it !
