Re: Is this R tailpiece genuine?
I have seen genuine originals which were much worse than the one you posted. I got this one from the Ric factory and returned it for a replacement which was somewhat better, but still not great.
Thanks. Yeah, it’s surprising a factory piece would look like that. Is there any way to definitely ...

Re: Is this R tailpiece genuine?
Well, that’s disconcerting. Thanks for the info and the comparison photos.doctorwho wrote: Tue Jul 08, 2025 2:47 am Here are the pictures of my 12-string tailpieces.

Based on the additional examples, I would conclude that the one you bought does look like a DIY knock-off.

Is this R tailpiece genuine?
Tales of exploding R tailpieces catalyzed me to buy an extra off Reverb, just in case.
This is described as circa early 2000s off a 620. However, the casting is quite rough compared to the factory piece on my ‘99 360. I’m questioning if it’s genuine or not. Any insight is appreciated.

Re: loosening strap button
Remove the screw, slide some toothpicks into the hole, snap the ends off flush, reinstall the screw. Use enough toothpicks for a snug fit.
If it comes loose after that, it’ll be time for a pro repair. But toothpicks will solve the problem 9 times out of 10.

Re: Pickup Selector Switch Problems
The switch contact pads must be clean and free from corrosion. And if the little switch contact arms get bent at all, it won't work properly. There's a fine balance.
You can get some fine sand paper (2000 grit) and just run it back and forth a few times between each contact pad. Flip it around to ...

Re: Pick-up Height Adjustment
The foam rings do have a bit of adhesive to keep them in place on the bottom of the pickup. If they've been heavily compressed, it's possible that new foam rings may be needed. But it's also worth noting that you sometimes need to give them some time to expand when raising the pickup. If you raise ...

Re: Ric 330 Bridge Rattle
Thank you all. My other Ric's do not suffer this problem like this particular 330. Maybe it's just the way this guitar vibrates the wood. Hey Collin, is it fair to assume that the 330 would maintain its characteristic "Ricky" tone with the M5 Mastery bridge ? I see that the bridge cover is not ...

Re: Mastery Bridge: Does It Make A Difference?
Another Mastery Bridge user here. I had a hard time deciding whether or not to try this thing, so hopefully this info can help those who are making the same decision I did about 3 years ago.
The problems I was having with the stock bridge were:
The height adjustment screws would shift and cause ...

Re: Gibson Pump Polish safe on Rickenbacker 360?
I’ve been using Gibson pump polish on my ‘92 360/6 JG for about 17 years now. No issues with the finish. I use the Gibson pump polish to clean off the guitar body and fingerboard most times I change strings.

Re: Unwinding high gains
Hi fiveightandten --- did you ever try posting an ad for that super-hot High Gain in the Marketplace - For Sale section of the RRF ? ?
There just might be Ric owners, on the Forum, who are in bands that play that type of music, that someone might just be looking for a deep low end, gainy sound. I ...

Re: Unwinding high gains
Better late than never...a bit of an update on this.
I unwound the bridge pickup by hand and it worked out beautifully. I wound it down to 9.5K, and the sound is MUCH better. I can actually hear something other than low end! I haven't touched the neck pickup, as that one is so hot it'll take some ...

Re: 330W neck relief question
I have the same issue with my early 90's 620/6. It had a very slight back bow that got a little worse, and that little bit made a notable difference in the playability.
I decided to try and pull it with some heavy gauge strings, so I put 13s on the guitar, and gradually tuned it up to pitch over ...

Re: Quick clear coat chip question
My '92 360 has a similar thing going on, though not as bad as that. It really hasn't gotten any worse in quite some time. It's purely cosmetic. I'd just play the guitar, until it gets bad enough to bother you. That will probably take a while. Alternatively, you could have a luthier do a spot repair ...

Re: Unwinding high gains
Just as an update, apologies I never got around to posting sound clips. But I picked up some toasters, and switched pickups around a bit. I took both fiber tops out of the 620. In the bridge, I put the high gain out of my 360, and in the neck, I put a toaster. MUCH better! I put a 500K volume pot in ...
