Re: Chinese Impressions Of Rickenbackers

Maybe there's not a lot of instruments actually in China right now today but they're on their way. With a little patience you'll finally see us there in force and the demand has already been well demonstrated. Thanks for the update John. Parsons has a good reputation in China, albeit primarily in t...

Re: Chinese Impressions Of Rickenbackers

Yup - Avril Lavigne. She is, hands down, number one in China these days. Personally, I am not her biggest fan (despite also being Canadian), but I think she has done some really great things in the music scene's development here. She's got my support. Her songs target a cohort (girls in their teens ...

Re: Chinese Impressions Of Rickenbackers

Latest report from Beijing (I feel like a tattle-taler!) Went into a Parsons yesterday, hoping to finally track down a Ric ... nada. The sales manager thought I was making up the name "Rickenbacker" as a joke (she knows my nickname is "Rick"). I had her phone a couple of other Pa...

These videos are great, thanks! They answered a few questions I always had about the little VOX AC-15 gems.

Re: vintage case

One of my Rics is a 660/12 in a vintage-style case. Scared the beejeebers out of me the first time I hear it rattling around inside when I was carrying the guitar somewhere. I now use the towel-solution, which is also handy for spilled beer, nacho-fingers & tell-tale lipstick. Just remember to f...

Just finished watching all four parts, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. A great trip down memory lane.

Thanks for posting these clips - very well done!

I have to get one of these - what a difference it makes in achieving that very unique sound we seek.

Here's an idea ... make a "lightshow" that can change its color into anything we desire at the moment.

I dub thee "Chameleon"

Wow! That's really good!

I gotta practice more ... and learn how to sing ... and teach our bass player how to stay in time. :D

Tx for the inspiration.

:D Memories ... driving my sister's lime green AMC Pacer, listening to ABBA on an 8-track (full volume ... all 5 watts/channel) :D

Yeah, I was cool, polyester paisley & all..

PS: Her 8-track tape collection included Captain & Tenille, of course!

Re: Mary Ford's SG on Pawn Stars!

OK, fair enough - I stand corrected, somewhat. I threw out the $1K as illustration of a point. Maybe it would fetch $2K if Joe Shmuck (e.g. me) owned it. Or who knows, a genuine 50s strat (worn, but all original) might even fetch $25K in today's market. Still > $900K short of Blackie's auction price...

Re: SOPA

I've lived in China for over a decade. For most of that, I was a Finance Professor in a joint degree program. Hence, I got to know a lot of young Chinese students. China has, shall we say, a fair amount of copied material, readily available on every street corner. It also has a very large internet c...

Re: Mary Ford's SG on Pawn Stars!

If we're up in the hundreds of thousands ($), I personally think this recent eBay offering is much cooler ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Elvis-Presley-Rosewood-1968-Telecaster-prototype-1-/290655076613?pt=Guitar&hash=item43ac648105 (It is a completed listing, so you'll need to log in to eBay to vie...

Re: What color is my Strat?

Nice looking guitar. My vote is dusty rose. The eighties, however, had that "International Color" scheme, with varying names/shades. Unsure if the Plus series could be ordered with those schemes. Yup, at least the bridge p/u has been changed, as well as the Volume pot/knob. Some may argue ...
