I like it with the current tempo - it's a nice change of pace! :)

The band I was in back in the '70s did something similar with our cover of Alice Cooper's "Eighteen" and it wound up being a crowd-pleaser.

That's why I picked that tempo. Change of pace and it caused me to sing in a sadder tone ...
