Re: Current tour picture
Great pic, Tom! Yea, that is a sure giveaway, but at this point, with the tour about wrapped up, I guess the spoilers thing isn't a problem. I'll go to great lengths to avoid any setlist discussions of a show that I'm attending, as I don't ever want to know what's coming. The one exception is any RU...

Re: FISH OUT OF WATER, DRYING OUT...
...The bass I am working on appears to be a different one from the one shown in Jim's stage photo. There are variations in the art in the portrait and in the background, going from photos alone.... Having an opportunity to look at both pics, what jumped out at me are the heels - My pic is squared, ...

Re: What drew you to Rickenbacker?
I guess nobody told John Fogarty that you can't play lead on a Rickenbacker! On the guitar side, the jangly 60's tones of the Beatles and Byrds, for sure. On the bass side, much as I love Yes & Squire, but the first bass line that grabbed me was Roger Glover's almost sinister bass break in...

Re: FISH OUT OF WATER, DRYING OUT...
Cool.....thanks Jim! Just to be clear, I'm not taking any credit for the decision to have the bass repaired. I just remember hearing that it had been "completely destroyed" and urged for someone to look into another option, other than discarding it. Chris certainly knows how to handle the...

Re: FISH OUT OF WATER, DRYING OUT...
Correct, Brian. I believe a microburst with 80 mph gusts took out the stage prior to the show, with no injuries, (other than this bass and some other gear.)bartyclue wrote:...2nd - Was this from the stage collapse last year in Oklahoma?...

Re: FISH OUT OF WATER, DRYING OUT...
Awesome! That incident was discussed here: http://www.rickresource.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=394463&start=60 The next day I was informed that this bass had been completely destroyed. The person I spoke to (not Chris Squire, BTW) told me the bass had been completely destroyed, that Chris...

Re: Squackett - Tall Ships (bass cover)
What I enjoy most, Miguel, beside the obvious fact that you put a lot of time into properly dissecting the bass lines, is that the audio mix is such that your bass part strengthens that which is already on the record, making it clearer to listeners like us here on the RRF who want to have the bass p...

Re: Current tour picture
Pretty sure the mounted bass was his long necked Tobias, which goes to low C (Miguel, correct me if I'm wrong here). Yea, I agree about the crowd size. If more fans knew how well they were playing on this tour, they'd cast aside their differences and just come out for the music. I'll be totally hone...

Re: Current tour picture
Tom & William, I was almost at one or both of those shows, but they added the Pittsburgh show so I was able to see that one and not have to miss a big family event last weekend. My one Goddaughter out on tour with her dad or the other one's twins 1st birthday party - Glad I didn't have to choose...

Re: Richard Smith
I keep plugging along on my book, "Rickenbacker Basses - 50+ Years As Rock's Bottom" (http://www.rocks-bottom.com), due to the publisher by 1 December. I would imagine it will be released sometime early 2013. The Blueburst 4003 on the sample photo page, was that picture taken at RIO in 20...

Re: Squackett - Tall Ships (bass cover)
Great job, Miguel! This was the first track I heard on this record and was always my favorite. I like the pace of the song and the nautical theme. I was able to pull that opening bass riff out on the first listen, but the other parts are buried a bit deeper and the arrangement, as usual, is a bit cl...
