Re: Horseshoe Pickups

Glad to read you still have the 6117. Did you ever get it into Steve's hands?

No, but I did tell him about it that evening. I haven't been in touch with any of them since Chris passed, except his family.

I do remember playing the Gretsch at the RIO confluence and left there thinking "Am I the ...

My favorite Steve Howe steel guitar.

For those who have not seen this superb concert DVD, just get it. :D

I do love that one, Jeff, and all other versions, but... The Ancient (from Tales) will probably always be my ...

Re: Horseshoe Pickups

Hello all,

It's been a while! Hope everyone's great!

Back in 2006 I purchased a 1982 4001S intended for a full Squire makeover. I also purchased a 1963 Rickenbacker Lap Steel with a true magnetic horseshoe that I intended to have refit to be installed in my project bass, along with a proper ...

Re: Chris Squires 1972 close to the edge recorded sound

It's been quite a while since I've logged in here.... I have to say that Chris Squire's early sound is a bit like the Kennedy Assassination. Likely a very simple truth lies at the core, but we'll never really get there. There are some guys on this forum, for instance Pete Greenwood, who can get you ...

Re: Your help: identifying a Rickenbacker bass

I have one identical to this, a 1989 4003S with vintage pickups and surround. Bought it from a forum member years ago. Great bass!

Re: What is UP with ebay -- 4001v63 content

Yea, just beware of the GC in Bakersfield, Ca. They recently shipped me a used Danelectro 12 String with missing strings and large, dirty fingerprints. Two calls to the store and both promised to send a new set of strings, but they never arrived. I can live without that level of customer service.

Re: Chris on Syndestructible--VINYL

The Syndestructible CD is still, hands down, one of my favorite listens, start to finish, when I just want to mellow out without hearing any heavy soloing or other heavy work. It just brings me around. It's like Chris is right there in the room with me again. I wasn't able to listen to it for a long ...

Roundabout Breakdown

Just saw this on Youtube:

As an engineer / composer / guitarist, I would love to see more like this, as well as isolated tracks. Hope they keep it up.

Re: The 21 Fret 4001 Basses Thread

Great thread resurrection! I enjoyed reading all the old posts and clearly, so much interest still exists for these basses.

When I first met Chris Squire in 2008, we had a discussion about his MG model that I'll never forget. He had recently retrieved it after a long "absence" and I asked him about ...

Re: #playforChris2

Very nice, thanks for posting that video.

Just for correctness, Chris passed on June 27th. The news went public on the 28th due to a tweet from Geoff Downes.

My last conversation with Chris, at the hotel following the August 2014 Orlando show was a good one. Some time ago I had entertained the ...
