Re: Whirlwind Byrdbox
I just picked up a Whirlwind Gold Box (Distortion +) and it works really well with a Rick 330. Designed by the same guy who designed the MXR version.

Re: 300 series return to 21 frets
and let’s also be mindful of the fact that there are iconic Ric players that famously played the chunkier 24 fretters…Buck, Marr etc. Here, here. Peter Buck is absolutely what drew me to Ric's, and he has used them, famously, longer than anyone, I think. The hi-gain pickup sound has always been &qu...

Re: Fall 2021: Best place to order a new Rick. . .
I can’t really see how it makes a difference where you buy a new Rickenbacker unless there is a good discount and you know it is coming set up well. It does seem that the more you buy from Sweetwater, the better the deals get from them over the longer haul. Definitely “chat” with them or call and ju...

Re: Rickenbacker 330 Models/Changes
I have to agree that right now it might be better to spend a little more on a new 330. I personally love a good, worn, used Rickenbacker that shows battle scars, but the prices of used Ricks seem a bit high. I think if my 330 was stolen I’d just buy a new one since it’s so hard to find a bargain the...

1980 320 Project
Rickenbacker 320 TD1620 Body resize.JPG Rickenbacker 320 TD1620 Guitar resize.JPG Here is a 1980 320 that has been in the register that I picked up. It was factory Jetglo and refinished at least once to Ruby (record 37409). It was stripped again and the owner decided not to continue working on it. ...

Rush Pepbox all the way, but make sure it’s an original by Lucy Rush (Pepe Rush). Avoid the clone made by others. https://www.rushamps.com/order/

I recently ordered one for a 1980 325. It hasn’t arrived yet, but I am confident it will be perfect.

Re: Robin Zander black 425
I found a 60's 425 husk, added a DiMarzio and made it my Ramones Special -- even if it's nothing like Johnny Ramone's guitar. But it's in the spirit of it. I'm having trouble with pictures, but it's registered. http://www.rickresource.com/register/viewitem.php?id=60906&bl=%2Fregister%2Findex.php...

Re: Fuzz?
The Rush Pepbox, now made by Lucy Rush in the U.K., is my favorite. It is the best fuzz I have found that works really well with a Rickenbacker 330. It also works well with my other guitars, including humbuckers. But for the Rickenbacker in particular, no other fuzz works as well. This is the origin...

Re: Ric 330, Vox AC30, and TS808
I always wanted an Azureglo Rick like Mitch Easters, so I did a great refin of a beat up ‘66 330. I did wind up selling it, but if I found the real deal like his I’d be tempted! I had no idea when I first heard R.E.M. and then Let’s Active, around the time of Murmur, that Mitch was such a huge part ...

Re: Butchered 425 for Restoration
Thanks. If I am not returning this to stock and if I can get the neck sorted out, is there a good option for a bridge other than a direct replacement? It looks like Winfield has one but I’m not married to it looking original. Can always do that later.

Butchered 425 for Restoration
I just purchased the butchered 425 on Reverb. The neck is toast and I don’t yet know if this is salvageable. I am not planning on a complete restoration - just get it working and perhaps not even a Rick pickup. I was wondering if by chance anyone has see this one before and knows the history. I don’...
