Re: Short scale basses
The newer basses do not have the old mud bucker style pickup. It has a dual rail type pickup under the cover.Although it is still powerful it is not overly so.There is a sweet spot with the two volume controls that works. The SG is another tool in the arsenal.I own one and kind of like it.My two cents...

Re: David Eden Highwayman amp
Hi Sepp, I use an Eden Metro which is a 2 channel combo amp which has two 10"speakers and a high freq horn.Channel 1 is all solid state(FET),while channel 2 has a tube preamp. It puts out 600watts(RMS) into a 2 ohm load.It is the best bass amp I've ever owned. It has great tone shaping, and is ex...

Re: Ampeg Armstrong lucite bass
I had one on a trial basis for about six weeks back in 1971 I think. This one was fretless, with 2 interchangeable pickups. It sounded ok, but I didn't like the bridge or the tuners.I wish I had kept it as there were only about 100 Dan Armstrong fretless basses made. That thing would be worth decent mo...

Re: Silver 'Vintage' Case
Those holes are there from the manufacturing process where they staple a tag or label on the case to ID it. I have several cases with the same marks. My local music store told what the holes were. Nothing to be concerned about.Happy New Year!

I too, have been using the Hercules wall hangers for all my basses, with absoluteley no issues for 5 or 6 years. Just make sure you drive the attachment screws into a stud, and they will be solid as a rock.Plus they look good and won't harm your guitars finish. Roger.

Re: Rickenbacker Plek
Good Day , Gents. I thought I might add my two cents worth on this topic. I recently purchased a 2014 Gibson SG Special Bass. I owned a "66 EB-O about 40 years ago (long gone) and decided I wanted another short scale set neck Gibson . Anyway, all 2014 made in USA Instruments are made using one ...

Re: The Book is alive!
Good Day,Paul. Just got my copy in the mail yesterday. Couldn't put it down! I'm very impressed with the effort. For someone like me (mostly Fender guy)I find your book very informative and helpful. Lots of good info and detail about the various models and variants of same.I find I can look back 40 y...

Re: What the heck is this!!! ????
George, if you look at the Picture of the damaged RIC case on e-bay, it is the headstock end of the case that has the damage!.Therefore I would doubt that any damage to the body of your bass happened at that time. Roger.

Re: What the heck is this!!! ????
Hello George, I have the same problem with my 2012 "replacement" body/neck. My 2011 4003JG had cracking and flaking paint around the tailpiece. This cloudy clearcoat is only a small area.1/8" out from tailpiece in a semi-circle about the size of a pencil eraser. It appears something in...

Re: How Many Of Us Actually Use Rickenbacker Strings?
I prefer the Ric strings on my 4003.They have a nice feel and the tension is good. They also sound great and seem to last.I don't think I would want them on my Fenders as they seem to like a heavier guage string. But I'm happy with the factory strings on my Ric. Roger.

Re: Acoustic Bass Guitar
Good Day,Guys. I figured I might as well wade in on this topic as I bought an acoustic/electric bass a couple of years back. It's an Epiphone El Capitan. It's totally made of maple so it has a fairly bright sound.Although not loud acoustically ,it has a very nice on-board preamp with tuner.Shadow of...

Re: Thinkin'bout a trade...
Hi Woody, I have a 2006 MIM Jazz Fretless (electron blue). I'm really quite impressed with both the way it plays and the sound. Mine has the fret markers(lines) where the frets would be and I find it helps with finger position. I have Fender Flats on it (55,70,90,105),which seem to be fairly high te...

Greetings Paul, I lost my mother in '86 and I still think of her often. I offer my prayers and do hope she does not suffer long. I also wish you all the best with your new acoustic guitar venture . Sincerely, Roger.

Re: Paint Cracking on 4003
No, the neck is pretty much the same as my 2011,which is fairly chunky on the lower frets. Like I said, I really like the bass, other than the silly paint issues. It was certainly not caused by a large temperature swing as some have suggested. It had never left my house. Kept clean,tuned,set-up and w...

Re: Paint Cracking on 4003
Hi Gents, I thought I might comment on the number of forumites having this problem. I am more inclined to believe that it is being cause by a finish curing issue (brittle paint). This is exacerbated by the tailpiece casting. It also seems to take about 9-12 months to rear it's ugly head. My replacem...
