Yes - Chris has started using 3 different basses now - he used to be Pedulla through and through up to this album. You can hear the Rick tone on the recorded version of "Cydonia", I think he uses it on another song on the album too.

Dom the drummer has also changed his kit to get a new sound ...

Sounds like a good type of wife to have.

Mine not only married me (as opposed to anyone else) and bought me my 4001v63 as a wedding present. That's a good type of wife to have too!

Does vary from manufacturer to manufacturer as indicated here already - It's not just about the amount of air you can push - the enclosure has so much to do with it.

I have a Gallien-Kruger head pushing GK cabs - 115RBH and 210RBH - i.e. one 15 and 2 10's both bi-amped. Best of both worlds and ...

Harry,
Not tried yet - slept most of the weekend after highly difficult work week.

This week I SHALL get onto it. On playing between bridge and 'shoes - tried that already - I think the sound becomes too thin though and you lose the essential 'Rickness' of the sound.

Will experiment and see ...

Thanks all. Since posting the question I've had no time to pursue the responses. Work has taken over and no time to play. Boo, hiss!

Shall observe at the weekend.

Cheers

Horseshoe noise?

(and no, I'm not talking about clip-clop clip-clop before any wag out there asks!)

All,

Is it normal for a horseshoe pickup to make noise if you nudge it or happen to move it when playing? (I have a 4001v63 no mods)

I rest the back of my palm on the top edge (fretboard side) of my horseshoe ...

All,
Thanks again for the suggestions.

Last night I plucked up the courage and lifted the lid off my baby.

Have done the trick with the wire and solder. Much better balance between the two pickups now. Also found the hot wire to the toaster had very bad solder, so re-did that too - all nice ...

OK,
This makes sense and I'm glad I'm not mad - I'll try the suggested regarding toaster screws - I'm also not keen on backing off the pickup volume, too easy for me to make a hash of it mid gig.

So I have this straight (as I haven't had the pick guard off yet, underneath the pickguard on the ...

All,

I've seen some discussion around weak bridge pickups but less so for neck.

I have quite a substantial volume difference between bridge and neck pickups on my 4001 v63 - and don't really get why.

I've raised / lowered in various combinations - given that I thought the neck toaster ...

J. Gary Wilkinson (J_gary) - Trace have been saved!

By Peavey. After the Gibson shenanigans which we'll not get into, Peavey in the UK have saved the brand, and have I believe, managed to enlist some of the former Trace people.

There's a new range of kit out now.

It does the soul good to ...
