Re: Beautiful bass on the bay
AUTUMNGLO! I'm showing my age (and possibly a feable memory), but I'm thinking that the guy from Atlanta Rhythm Section played one of those. I know he played a 4001, but I'm PRETTY sure it was autumnglo. Lovely!

Re: 2012 4003 headstock wings: still walnut?
Here's a pic of it with EXTREME digital clarity editing applied. The headstock looks pretty under normal lighting, but if you REALLY enhance it,
you'll see the white grain filler. When I fill a dark wood grain, I use a comparable color. However, if you look at older examples of RIC 4001's / 4003's ...

Re: 2012 4003 headstock wings: still walnut?
Try this again (first attempt failed)...
Here's my new 4003 mapleglo beside my Fakenbacker. The new 4003 is FANTASTIC! I'm ok with the grain/filler issue on the headstock wings. Beats no walnut wings at all! Plus, although I got it on eBay second-hand, it's a 2010 and it is in FACTORY NEW condition ...

If you've heard Yes's "no opportunity necessary" then you've heard the same tone!

You fellows are GOOD! It is a neck-thru 197x Ibanez. I have owned 3 4001cs, 1 1980 4001, an 86 4003 a 4001s and I hate to admit that this one sounds more classic Rick than any of them. The body is a bit thinner, but even unplugged it sounds like a real classic.

Re: New 4003 MID is here! And I'm extremely pleasd.
My bigger surprise, beyond the poor quality control at RIC, is that RIC BASSES were DISCOUNTED at Musicians Friend? I thought RIC's were always
exempt from the "deals" at Musicians Friend?
Even more-- I MISSED IT?

Re: 2012 4003 headstock wings: still walnut?
I just scored a mapleglo 4003 (2010) on eBay. Not too bad of a deal. I'll post pics when I get it. I'm jazzed about the specs on the recent years models.
the inlays, wings, etc. are steps in the right direction (which is backwards, of course!) I agree, I want to see a toaster in the neck! Then, all ...

2012 4003 headstock wings: still walnut?
hey guys,
I just joined the forum. I am curious if the 2012 RIC 4003 will still have the ever so awesome walnut headstock wings.
Any comments?
