Thank you.
It is a beautiful guitar....but belongs to my brother...not me!
It is interesting that the fanned out shape of the bigsby, mirrors the fanning of the body of the 360...in reverse and adds a look of balance. IMO

Re: Bigsby for a 330
2-3 years after the 1962 Knavel B16 mod and I can report the "B16-Rick" Bigsby mod is going strong. I will clarify that there are no additional holes that need be drilled in the guitar, and I would have a difficult time drilling into a 62/3' original 360! This is a completely reversible ad...

Re: 360c63 6-string dilemma
I had 3 325c58 ricks all with extremely low output (making the stock guitar unusable IMO). Those pickups are a bit different with short magnets and came stock at 3.5k. But the solution I did on the one that I kept was unique and could be used in your model. I sent two pickups to Tom Brantley pickup ...

Re: Bigsby for a 330
I helped knavel do the repair, so here some more details of the repair. First, this is the perfect bigsby for a Rick, because the small angle on the top of the Rick gives you little to work with. If the Bigsby is too long, then the angle the strings make with the bridge will not be great enough to p...

Work now done - see last few pics at the link
At the link below you can see the finished product. I want to thank everyone for their input and Collin and Ron in particular who gave me info on very small details. I went with this luthier because of his ability to match paint and here again he did not disappoint. My only very slight disappointmen...

Re: NGD - 1961 New Capri/OS 365 - info needed for restoratio
The work is almost done. Two final questions (one is not vintage related but thought I'd ask): 1) What was the original angling on the edges of the early 60s gold pickguards? (45 degrees, etc). 2) I got the Lollar toaster pickups and some toaster chrome covers to put on them. The Lollar covers don't...

Re: NGD - 1961 New Capri/OS 365 - info needed for restoratio
Hopefully there is some interest in how this project progresses. By way of update, I've taken the decision to get the guitar up and running with whatever suitable parts are lying around, or available without a major financial committment. Then, if I like the guitar I will put in the time and money t...

Re: NGD - 1961 New Capri/OS 365 - info needed for restoratio
Great info Ron, thanks. Your contribution is really appreciated. Unfortunately I just missed out on the case for this on ebay. That said, I really have little need for the old cases and prefer padded bags. Someone once asked on here about a suitable bag recommendation for a guitar like this and got ...

Re: NGD - 1961 New Capri/OS 365 - info needed for restoratio
No guarantee the 66 guards will match up with the 62 guards, either in size or (especially) in screw hole placement. You could use your 66 guard as a starting point, place it on the 62 and see how close it is to the outline -- if you can detect the outline -- of the area covered by the original gua...

Re: NGD - 1961 New Capri/OS 365 - info needed for restoratio
That 375 is very inspiring! This era 360/70 to me really was the most beautiful guitar Rickenbacker ever made. I am really looking forward to having this project done even though there will be some scars. I am glad you brought up the inlays as I was wondering why they weren't the crushed ones. I am ...

OK, here she is. http://oldschoolguitar.net/projects/potential-rickenbacker-project/ In addition to the obvious issues, I would be grateful for any input on any aspect of this guitar. For instance, the luthier thought that the inside of the cavity had perhaps been sanded down and painted given the d...

Re: NGD - 1961 New Capri/OS 365 - info needed for restoratio
And a final, final question: What is the period correct case for this guitar? The silver one like for my 1966 365 or?
PS, I think now I can add a B3 Bigsby to this guitar instead of a B5 and thereby not put any extra holes in it.

Re: NGD - 1961 New Capri/OS 365 - info needed for restoratio
It is missing a ferrule. I don't know if the hole spacing on sta-tites and Klusons is different but if the Klusons were there originally then there should be a footprint for them. I don't see it in the crud photo I have so I will update on that. I suppose I should ask what the subtle differences bet...

Re: NGD - 1961 New Capri/OS 365 - info needed for restoratio
I am sad to hear you don't have your 61 anymore. The one pictured in front of the Marshall right? That photo was a large inspiration for me to go ahead get this one. How did you rate the 61 as a playing guitar? 1.) I briefly owned a '61 365 "New Capri" and the two pickups were long-pole to...
