Re: OMG! RIC's Made Another HUGE Change!
I noticed this too. They changed it pretty soon after I got my 330. Still can't bring myself to take it off. Maybe it's not cool to keep it on, but it's a particular point of pride and respect for me. I don't think people who actually play gigs keep it on, so maybe if I ever do a live show...

Yep. "You can play any kind of music on any guitar."
And what's great is he's not afraid to rock the hell out on a Rick, like on that killer version of Helter Skelter.

The Phil X Rickenbacker Video X travaganza
Just a collection of all the Phil X videos testing out vintage Rics. Total musical funness.

Re: What drew you to Rickenbacker?
That sounds like what they did with The Doors' Sullivan appearance too. They're pretty strict about that, although I think I found it on Dailymotion instead.
Luckily, the CCR Woodstock appearance finally surfaced. Apparently, their set wasn't in the film because Fogerty didn't like their ...

Re: What drew you to Rickenbacker?
Depending on the video or picture, I sometimes think it's fireglo, or autumnglo. But yeah, sometimes it looks like a deeper red. Did he have two? One with the ACME truss rod cover and one with the regular cover? Or was it the same guitar, I wonder.

Re: What drew you to Rickenbacker?
Not much of a Beatles fan, so I found my Ric influences from other bands.
The earliest I can remember really noticing Rickenbackers was when Full Moon Fever was released and saw the interesting looking guitar Tom Petty was holding. I was just a casual Petty fan then and soon learned that it was the ...

Re: Just bought first Ric in Japan
Welcome and congrats, Jeremy! :)
BTW, Japanese RIC dealers get on occasion special limited-run instruments not available elsewhere, so you are in a good location to get some unbelievably cool ones!
I checked out the Japanese Ric site and saw some of the models. Woah, expensive....but very nice ...

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
I'll definitely give it a try. Maybe after a couple of trips, I'll have a nice variety of pics to show.bartyclue wrote:Congrats and Welcome.
Next time you are in one of these stores can you take some pics of some of the vintage ones. I would love to see what they have.

Just bought first Ric in Japan
I've been living in Japan for quite a while now and have wanted a Rickenbacker for even longer. The past couple of years I've been serious about getting one, but the recession and last year's earthquake put a major dent in my finances.
Anyway, money's good now and I finally got my first ...
