An article about tubes and transistors
The Tube is Dead. Long Live the Tube. The vacuum tube has been obsolete for decades— and it’s here to stay by Mark Wolverton It’s 1960 or so, and you’re a 12-year-old living in a suburb somewhere on the East Coast. It’s late on a school night and you’re in bed, but you’re not sleeping; you’re listen...

Re: New to 12-stringers
My problems pretty much went away as soon as I replaced the plain 17 and plain 18 with wound eighteens. HUGE difference. I also had to move the whole bridge to intonate it, but all is well in Jangleworld now. Thanks everybody.

Re: Any thoughts on this modification?
Tubescreamer, how would you be thinking to wire those four pickups with the three-way p/u selector switch ? :? Do you think it might be a little crowded on a small guitar body like a 660-12 ? I've seen one three pick-up 600 series, that Gary (Doctorwho) has in his collection. He has posted pictures...

Re: New to 12-stringers
The D'Addario 12-string set comes in these gauges: 10-10 13-13 17-08 26-12 36-18 46-26 The 17 "low G" and 18 "high A" are not wound strings. I was getting some really sour sounding chords, and just kept retuning. After replacing these two strings with wound 18s, the problem is so...

Re: New to 12-stringers
I did put on fresh strings with plenty of wraps, and they are a D'Addario set (10-46) which is confusing to me. I've been using D'Addarios on my Les Paul forever, and have never had a problem before. I had a Rick 370-6 that work great with them as well. What gauge are your flatwounds?

New to 12-stringers
These are persnickety things aren't they? I've finally got the action where it should be, the truss rods adjusted and the intonation precise. I'm starting to cop the feel for my new 660-12, but I'm constantly tuning this thing, usually one of the B strings or both Gs. My other guitars don't give thi...

Re: The Rick that got away...
Confirmed, the guitar I used to own belongs to the guy in Wisconsin.
It's nice to know where it is, thanks.

Re: New Rick, Old Camera, Cloudy Day
I haven't been in the camera business for a couple of years so I don't really know all that's available right now. The reason I'm looking toward the D800 is because all of my lenses and flashes are Nikon based accessories and I don't want to start over with a new brand. (Fuji's pro cameras were buil...
