High E string "choking out" above 12th fret
I have a 2012 360. I was practicing acoustically recently and noticed that the sustain on the high E from about the 14th fret on up is very short and the tone is "choked." It's not a sitar like buzz, almost a bit like a palm mute. I guess is *could* be fret buzz but it just sounds differen...

Re: Big Big Train
Has anyone heard Big Big Train? They are a fantastic prog band from England and their bass player, Greg Spawton, is excellent and gets a fabulous tone out of his Ricky 4003. If you like Genesis, Yes etc then I urge you to check them out! Also Dave Gregory on guitar, (often with a 660/12) for some o...

That's an awesome finish. Makes me want to have my 4004 refinned the same way!

Re: Fall 2021: Best place to order a new Rick. . .
I thought Pick of the Rics was out of business? Not sure though? Anyhow, the 2 best places for best Quality & Customer Service is Sweetwater & Wildwood.. Of those two the best Price will be Sweetwater.. Both list Pictures, Serial numbers & weight of their Guitars so you can see the actu...

No 660/12's in JG listed, but if they have to order them anyway I guess I could ask. . . .jdogric12 wrote:Sweetwater has serioulsy upped its Rick game in the last couple of years, I'm not gonna lie I've bought a few from them and they're killing it.

I sent an email to Babiuk's and they are. And given the limited supply, it feels justified.jdogric12 wrote:Those are just list prices. I would hope no one is paying list price!maxwell wrote: AND (surprisingly) their price — when did RIC start allowing that?

https://wildwoodguitars.com/product-category/electrics/rickenbacker/ … PS - It seems that all the new guitars are 12-string… I'm actually in the market for a 660/12 JG. There is one up on Reverb but I'd prefer new if possible. A 1993+ would be wonderful other than the price and the 6-string bridge.

Re: Fall 2021: Best place to order a new Rick. . .
. . . that is not listed as "In Stock." …I don’t understand this, so I’ll just leave it alone, other than reminding that an authorized Rick dealer can order whatever you want. OK, STRIKE THAT… (above) …. I simply don’t understand the advantage of that, I guess. Sorry I wasn't clear, but t...

Fall 2021: Best place to order a new Rick. . .
. . . that is not listed as "In Stock." I posted in a subforum with no responses, so I figured I would try here.
What online retailers have the best customer service and (distantly second) price?
I would go with Pick of the Ricks but they don't appear to sell Ricks anymore.

Best place to order a 660/12?
I'm possibly in the market for a 660/12 in JG or MG. It doesn't look like anyone has either in stock. Any recommendations for a rick dealer that is still in business from which to order?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Re: And in the end ...
At one point in 2004 or so I had an MG 330 and a Monty Brown 660/12. Ended up going a completely different direction and sold both to fund non-guitar music purchases. I picked up a 360 MG in 2012 and will never, ever sell it. It's my therapy, even though I gig out with other things (Irish traditiona...

I keep meaning to make a simple demo showing how the coil tap harness (Thanks Dane!) works. . .Kopfjaeger wrote:I put together two You Tube videos detailing the tone differences a few years back.

Re: rickenbacker pickup designs...
It's a french name, isn't it ? It's quite hard to tell how it's pronouced in french because it uses sounds that don't exist in english. You can try "Boshemp" without pronouncing the "m" and the "p" at the end. I'm afraid it's not very clear. I think I understand....
