Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?

My Energy 1X15 was phenomenal with a four string but didn't work at all for the five string. The Bag End 2X10 is just about the same size, maybe even a little smaller, and sounds solid down to a low B.

I don't recall having any issues with my Energy cab and my M*dulus Q5 but it's been awhile ...

Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?

My main gig rig is a '95 Trace Elliot AH350SMX w/ TE 2x10 and 1x15 cabs and my Ricks sound fantastic through that amp, I still haven't found another amp/rig I like nearly as well and I've auditioned many. My Ricks also sound great through my '65 Ampeg SB-12, GK MB150E and my old faithful Sunn ...

Yeah I loved that band and Jon plays brilliantly on many of their songs from back then. Way up on my list of albums to listen to when I want to hear a 4001.

Re: 3000/3001 Models

I wish I still had my 3001, mine was white and I bought in new in '78 or '79. Aside from being on the heavy side it was a really great bass and I hope to find another one day.

Re: When did McCartney sand off the points on the "horns?"

Light weight indeed. Next to my Hofner 500/1 my Cheyenne is the lightest bass I own. Which sounds better? To my ears the 4004C, definitely worth the few extra pounds imo.

Re: Any S/5 er's out there?

Gorgeous bass Joey. One big regret I have is not buying one when I had the chance. I'm convinced now I could adapt to the tight string spacing. I have a very nice 5 string but man to get the Rick sound you gotta have a Rick. When I'm a little better positioned financially I'm going to hunt one down.

Yep, great basses. I'm really happy I ordered mine before they went out of production.

Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric

Thanks John and it sounded great too. I had people come up to me on breaks telling me how good the bass sounded which seems to happen a lot when I'm playing the Cheyenne. I also had a couple of guys I don't know come up with lots of questions about this mysterious Rickenbacker bass they'd never seen ...

Re: Ric Tone/Versatility

I've never had a problem getting what I want out of any of my Rick basses. Unfortunately some folks still propogate the myth that Rickenbackers aren't versatile basses and I'd wager most never actually owned or played one for any length of time. If they had they'd know better.

Re: Tubes and Rics!

hey there,ROBJ. i had one of those ampeg sb-12's and ended up selling it for the same reason you posted. it sounded great at lower volumes, but couldn't really cut it for gigs. (without being miked, which isn't usually an option for me). your's looks really fab refurbished!

Perhaps wishfull thinking on my part it probably is a good thing I didn't get an original really and your point is well taken.

That said would you mind a PM on a somewhat related subject?
