I am looking to find the string spacing at the pickups on the 5 string models, anybody know this? What is the total width from B string to G string?

The most important aspect is the string spacing at the pickup so I can determine whether the pup will work with the string spacing on the bass I want to install it on, namely a Zon 5/1. I intend to place the pup in the spot that the original pup is, so string spacing is important. I have a 4001 so I...

5 String Pickup Specs

Anybody here know the dimensions of the neck and bridge pups on a Cheyenne 5 string? Most important is the string spacing at the pup not at the nut or bridge as I am considering putting one of these on a different instrument. The outside dimensions would be nice to know also, thanks for your help.

I am in the process of making new electronics for my '73 4001. I had a new pickguard made so I can leave the original intact; I think I am going to wire it up like a Jazz Bass, VVT with a switch to go from bidge pickup with or without the cap in line. Any comments or suggestions?

This is the main reason I do not like this type of switch and perhaps the reason RIC changed the kind of switch they use for the 4004. Every switch of this type always craps out eventually; try lightly scraping the contacts with emory cloth to get rid of the oxidation on them.

I recently got a '73 4001 in Fireglo. To see what the difference was with and without the capacitor I put alligator clips across the capacitor and it is a nice tonal option. I am going to make custom electronics for mine on a new pickguard that will have a switch to choose between the two sounds. Th...

I used to have a '67 4005WB in Jetglo so unfortunately I couldn't tell you what the headstock on mine was like.
