Re: “Professor Plum” The 1970 4001 21 Fretter

Is this one still available? I probably have to get in line, but a 1970 Eggplantglo 4001 21 fretter sounds WONDERFUL to me!!!! I remember conversations I had on this board with the guy from Portugal about 21 fretters in the early oughts, when I owned that '71 FG 21 fretter in the Rock's Bottom book,...

It's interesting, I had a '92 FG V63 years ago that also came from Japan.

Wonder what's the deal with FG V's and Japan?
I don't know, but it seems that everytime I see a FG v63 available, the seller is in Japan.

Re: New 4003/4003S Neck Profile

I just recently acquired a FG 4001v63 that I was able to purchase at a quite reasonable price. It is a December 1994, just like my MG Dec 1994 v63, just something like 32 digits higher than my other one. They are so much alike that I am still astounded that I found it. I bought it from a seller in P...

NAMM 2024 what's new w RIC?

Dear RRF friends,
Has anyone heard about Rickenbacker being at the recent winter NAMM show?
I had a friend that went to NAMM last week, but they didn't see a Rickenbacker display. Any news on this?

Re: Touch Up paint for Fireglo, or any other RIC color?

Sometimes you can get away with Jetglo touch-ups using enamel nail polish. But Fireglo is going to look terrible, even if you have decades of experience doing touch-up work professionally. The dings and scratches that instruments get as they are used are something to be proud of, IMO. It’s what giv...

Touch Up paint for Fireglo, or any other RIC color?

I gently tipped over my beloved 4003S FG and it hit a bit of metal with the end of headstock, resulting in 3 very bad chips in the finish down to the wood. :( :( :( I'm familiar with using polishing compounds etc. for cleaning up abused finishes on RIcks but I've never known of any Fireglo touch-up ...

Re: It finally came in!

Man, that is a gorgeous Jetglo bass! I just love the way they are shaping the horns and the headstock for these new 4003S models.

Enjoy!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Has there EVAH been a better film, in cinema history, than MANT!, or more terrifying? I saw it in ATOM-O-VISION for the first time, and I thought I would NEVER sleep again!

Re: Which 4001 would be available in Germany in 1965-69?

I seem to remember that Rose-Morris had some interest in distributing RIcks elsewhere in Europe in the '60s, I'm sure someone here will know...
Didn't RM distribute Ricks in Italy in the '60s?

Like the two stashes I have (flat and rift sawn red oak, and quarter sawn white oak)? Nice! Our new dining room set is quartersawn white oak. As is ours, along with my computer desk in the same room, all Amish built. In fact, all the wood trim downstairs is quartersawn white oak. Here is ...

Re: 4001S or modded 4000?

This one screams modded 4000 to me, what Dirk said. One of the fundamental things I like about Rick basses is the resonance of the neck thru body, but the way this one is priced indicates that they consider the set neck a feature, not a bug.

You'll find a photo of one in my book (page 75 of the first edition, page 77 of the second edition), along with fretless examples of several different models. I KNEW IT when I read his post, I was certain that there is one in the book! Thanks Bassduke, for the comment AND the book! I'm STILL enjoyi...
