Welcome, Greg! Check to see if the .0047µF capacitor that is in-line with the bridge pickup is there. This cap deliberately cuts the bottom end from that pickup; if it is there put a piece of wire across the leads of that cap and you will find the bottom end you seek. 8)

Paul is THE expert to take a Ric in need of help to and you are right in his neck of the woods so don't hesitate to contact him, just like he indicated. He is also a great guy to work with and will treat you right.

Yikes, Jeff! ...I'm too nervous to do all of that myself! I'm just scared I'll screw something up! ...however, with your instructions in hand, I might be able to take it to someone who could do the job for me (with little in the way of cost).

REPAIR RECOMMENDATION for my Bay Area 4001v63
Hey there, All! Gil, here (a.k.a. "Charlie Goodnight")... recent purchaser of a GORGEOUS 4001v63 from Jeff Scott (thanks again, Jeff!)...
Last night I was putting some new strings on the bass, and decided to play with the mutes in the bridge a bit; since I'd never really messed with them before ...

I haven't read other responses yet; so, I'm sure this has already been said...
But, of all the other bands that were around during the hey-day of the 1993/94-1998/99 college band scene in Bloomington, Indiana; no other bassists were playing a Rickenbacker. Everyone had the typical Fender P-Bass or ...

Re: Traveling with my (future) 4001v63
I wouldn't fly with either bass. Just go to Sepp's place and borrow one of his basses while you are in Jersey! Greg's basses wouldn't work for you, take my word for it.
Jeff... I hope it didn't alarm you that I was considering flying with the v63! I was being a little unrealistic, perhaps ...

Thanks to everyone for the feedback...
The more I thought about it, the more I thought what someone wrote above...
P-Bass... It IS a no-brainer.
So, that's decided!!!
I was being a little crazy...I know...

Ah... Sorry if I was unclear... Flying.
I've actually seen people put gig bags in overhead compartments; but not all overheads are alike.
And it's a little town called Midland Park... near Ridgewood and Paramus. Bergen County.

Traveling with my (future) 4001v63
Hey there, y'all! So here's a question for you... I'd love to get opinions from everyone!
In a matter of days I'll have my 4001v63 in my hands (thanks again, Jeff  ), and I 'm certain that (once I have it) I'll not be able to put it down!!!
Well... fast forward to December of this year... I ...

Re: New Bass Day
Awesome!
I just saw one of those "Rubies" a few days back, and is was GORGEOUS!!!
For myself, I always like to see a little wood grain peaking through my finishes... but, when I saw the ruby-red finish on this particular Rick, I was like "WOW!!! Look at THAT!!!"

Can I just say that JPS RULES!!!
Folks...
A few days back, I started posting on this forum in various places; with the hope that I might somehow find someone who was willing to provide me with my dream bass.
The RickResource Forum has made my dreams come true!!!!

Before I pull the trigger...
Hi there, all!
I'm a former 4003 owner who stupidly traded his bass away; years ago.
Well... I feel the need to acquire a Ric again... though, this time it's going to be a 4001v63.
I'm about to go ahead with the purchase of a gorgeous '99 mapleglo... however, I thought I'd just put this out ...
