Re: Remember Amplifier Courtesy Outlets?

I too have a 1965 silver panel tube version and am in the process of selling the SS as a part of an ongoing "thinning the herd" project. I like the story behind the tube Cambridge, which is from the first Thomas Organ line. Thomas sent a sample to Vox U.K. who made some tweaks that were in...

Re: Mike Campbell's 620/12 and Here Comes My Girl

That is a nice, relaxing and informative clip. Thank you. My best friend and I went to see The Who a week or so ago. We were lucky to find that the opening act was Mike Campbell and band. They were in good form and the audience was enthusiastic. Towards the end of their set, Campbell informed us tha...

Re: Bangles "7 and 7 is" at the Whisky 2016-12-09

Awesome rendition! And like Rush on their Feedback album, the Bangles left off the slow triplet "ice cream" changes at the end. Two minds on that; it puts the brakes on a rocking song but at the same time calls forth psychedelic pondering of a "mind in an ice cream cone."

Re: Can a fretless be played without all the mwah/meow?

The mute is cool and I used it all the time with flats when I had a fretted bass, but with the fretless it's mostly about the left hand finding the desired response. Fretted with flats and the mute is a truly an awesome sound!

Re: How do you point your knobs?

When the bass is on the stand, the dot is pointing south, parallel with the neck. Like many others, I roll off the neck with the other knobs full out.

Re: Can a fretless be played without all the mwah/meow?

Count me as another fretless player who doesn’t exploit mwah. I do like the notes to sustain.

Re: loosening strap button

On another forum someone suggested plumber's Teflon tape. I suppose that's if there is still threading in the wood. The felt washers could be helpful as well.

Re: Buy 4003 or 4003s and say why

Those sorts of decision tend to be made on a case by case scenario. Rickenbacker basses are fine looking in either form and you just never know what's going to speak to when you pick one up and play it.
