Re: If I Could Change One Thing About My Rickenbacker ...
Oh - I had forgotten: on my 360-12, with a 24-fret neck, at that time RIC was still using the upper scratch plate with the 21-fret pickup placing, so it bumped against the pickup instead of outlining the frame of the pickup as it does on the bridge pickup. So I took my dremel and recontoured the up...

Re: Jon Camp - cap or no cap?
To elaborate on the above: 1) The value of the cap is the same for all Rickenbacker guitars and 4001/3 basses that have the inline cap: .0047 microfarads. On my 4002, as set forth in the factory wiring diagram, the inline cap is a .01 on each pickup. This caused some comb filtering problems that pr...

Re: Ebony Fingerboards
You cannot order an instrument with an ebony fingerboard. That said, the 4002 bass (yes, "2," not "1" or "3") had an ebony fingerboard stock. Here is mine, with an Ibby I owned for awhile to try to get a 5-string version of a 4002. That didn't work out so well, but I ha...

Re: Advice on best models + modification question
Thanks, Pm sent! I found your mid pickup 5th knob volume mod some years back and run it out of phase on my 350. My unending goal is a 3 pickup guitar that does as much as it can quickly and easily without looking at it. Rotaries, banks of switches that risk accidental mutes and 5 ways need not appl...

Re: Horseshoe WITHOUT the Cap
It's my understanding that 4000 basses did not have the cap.

Re: Jon Camp - cap or no cap?
I don't know the either/or. On my 4002 and my guitars, I installed a push-pull to have either on demand.

Re: Advice on best models + modification question
Awesome! what is your amp of choice? If you plan on modding, and can try each out, go with the most comfortable otherwise go with the one you can’t ever see yourself putting down. The rest you can sort out. 500K pots will brighten up a guitar. There’s tons of tones hidden in a Ric. I have the repli...

Re: If I Could Change One Thing About My Rickenbacker ...
I gig. I am a player. I am not a slavish collector. These mods were for functionality. They have paid for themselves many times over across the decades. Moreover, they pass the "front-of-the-stage" test, meaning that you can't tell just from looking that I have done anything to the instru...

Re: If I Could Change One Thing About My Rickenbacker ...
It would be to have my Model 350 have 21 frets instead of 24. I just like that extra room with 21 frets than the extra three frets. Yes, this is being picky but in my world of dreams it is on my bucket list. Now someone please talk me out of this idea so that I don't have to buy another. How about ...

Re: Is it happening? A new 4005?!
I'll leave it here anyway. It played and sounded very nice. It has a wide range of tones. Being so close to the bridge, the treble pickup is very growly. i'd like to put a pickup that close to the bridge on my other Ricks, like a 4002 or 4004LK. IMG_20230414_121308_707.jpg Concerning a 4002, which ...
