Re: And in the end ...

Things can't be too bad if there's a Rickenbacker around. Brightens one's day.

Re: Happy Friday Meeting Place

Boomer Remount. This weekend a replay of the boomer rock and roll show from Mid-June but with a few different musicians including a saxophone player that knows the style! Honking, soulful bliss. They don't train kidz to do this in jazz programs. Duck walking down a bar should be part of the curricul...

Re: Testing out strings is fun!

Thing is, other people playing Rotos, heroes of mine, etc., sound awesome, but me, not so much! Actually, rounds in general. Thomastik makes double bass strings and their approach to electric bass strings translates really well onto Rickenbacker fretless basses. That said, it's Pirastro Evahs over T...

Re: Testing out strings is fun!

I always end up going back to Rotos. I like both the sound and feel best. Strangely, I don’t really like smooth-feeling strings and, partly because I play so lightly, I like an aggressive-sounding string. I actually really like these too: https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/rotosound-roto-green-bass-set-35...

Re: Testing out strings is fun!

I second the TI Jazz Rounds. The quality is there in spades. They are low tension and it took some time to get used to that. They last forever!

That green reminds me of a Schwinn String Ray a friend had in the '60s.

A heckuva bass. One for the ages.

Have you thought about a case for that beauty? G&G have some nice options.

Forget Rolling Stone, Ringo made the back cover of Mad Magazine in 1964.

Re: Groovy Beatles pictures

That was a good interview with Andy White. Thanks for posting. The clip of Lennon and Harrison was informative. Nice to see the bassman amp back there. Too bad about the ciggies.
