Re: No bridge with Rick-O-Sound - am I using the right cable?
I always troubleshoot by eliminating the dumb options first. Did you confirm that the output jacks aren't simply switched (with mono jack coming out of the "RoS" labeled position, and stereo out of the unlabeled)? Wouldn't be the first time I've seen that, though unlikely from the factory....

Re: Rickenbacker To Stop Lacquering Fretboads Starting Now
I can't tell if the fretboard is totally unfinished. I attached 2 pictures to show the details of the fretboard. This is a 2021 620/12. My fretboard is getting dark discoloration where my fingers are most frequently. I'd like to know how to clean this off without damaging the guitar in any way. For...

Re: 2002 360/12 Turquoise Value: Semi-rare color?
I really love TUR, it's one of the nicest looking factory colors on nearly any model. The downside to me is that the offering of Turquoise seems to coincide with an era of production that I'm not particularly fond of (mid-90s through early 00s), mostly for setup reasons as you're experiencing. That ...

Re: Recently Purchased 381/12v69 Questions
Nice guitar, it looks exactly like it did leaving the factory. There has been no repairs or issues at the neck. That's simply the joint edge where the neck and body meet, it's normal to have glue/grain filler at that spot. Hard to say about the frets, other than I can't imagine they've been touched...

Re: Rickenbacker 1993Plus Replacement Tuners
Let me know how the replacement tuners work for you. Schaller used to be a quality driven outfit, but since it was sold in 2006 things have definitely changed - especially in relation to the vintage tuners. We have found another "Kluson" style vendor as of about 2 months ago and we feel t...

Re: Rickenbacker 1993Plus Replacement Tuners
Is this a design feature of modern Rickenbacker tuners? Nope, those tuners just have a poor ratio and are generally low quality. It's one of the very few shortcomings I could point out on these otherwise great guitars. A Kluson Deluxe style from Gotoh would be a the much better drop-in replacement.

Re: ‘67 modded 330 (335) vs new 330, need help and insight
When this guitar was made, Ernie Ball 10's Slinky's were just coming into the market. The "standard" set of strings were 12's. Not for the neck, but for my fingers, I have a set of 9's on my 1981 360-12 FG WB Ckbd. That equates roughly to a set of 12's on a 6-string instrument. It has hai...

Re: ‘67 modded 330 (335) vs new 330, need help and insight
In case anybody questions that the neck can handle 12's, remember that the same neck and truss rods is/was used for the 12-string guitars. The factory 12-string set is a 10's set. Without going through all the math, suffice to say that the tension with the factory strings on a 12-string guitar is r...

Re: Rich Robinson Rickenbacker Model
Second, did anyone watch the Chronic Town 40th Anniversary livestream this week? Rich was playing an excellent green F model. If you saw it, or know the guitar I am talking about, do you know what guitar that was? Thanks! It’s a 360F copy made by Australian luthier Piers Crocker, called a Crockenba...

I don't believe the current RIC guitar nuts are bakelite. And they are not a drop-in replacement for a vintage spec Rickenbacker nut anyway.

Re: Refretting a 1961 450
My advice would have been to not plane the fretboard. Why do people insist on doing this for Rickenbackers? It’s totally unnecessary. (Same with early maple board Fenders). Now the guitar is permanently modified. Frets are a wearing part, but the finish is only original once. For anybody else readin...

Re: a couple questions about rickenbacker capri history/construction details
The original nuts were made of a black phenolic material. The closest available today is Delrin. Hmmm. I thought bakelite was the closest to the original phenolic nuts. Please advise the difference. Thanks. https://polymerdatabase.com/polymer%20classes/Phenolic%20type.html Scott, from experience ba...

Adam, I should also note that the real resource here at RRF (and also Beat Gear Cavern) is the wealth of great discussion over the past 20+ years, all of which is easily searchable (using the search bar on the upper right). There isn't a question you can imagine related to this sort of tech stuff t...
