I have finally been able to drop off the 1993+ to my luthier after several weeks of delay due to bad weather, power outages and too many other obstacles. He’s installing the new tuners along with a new 12 saddle bridge. I may even have it completed by this Sunday if all goes well. Fingers crossed.

Is this a design feature of modern Rickenbacker tuners? Nope, those tuners just have a poor ratio and are generally low quality. It's one of the very few shortcomings I could point out on these otherwise great guitars. A Kluson Deluxe style from Gotoh would be a the much better drop-in replacement....

The tuners arrived today and look like standard Ric Deluxe Vintage style tuning machines. I’m hoping these will be a huge improvement.
