Re: Odd duck 4001FL on the way!
Do you know what gauge Chromes are on it? I always read about their being on the heavy side, but I use a very light set that feels really nice (40-55-75-95). They have been on a few Ricks of mine over the years.

Re: Doubling Pedal for a 12 String
A real doubling pedal would be able to anticipate what is going to be played before it actually is, so that the doubled part moves around ahead of and behind the original line. So, what is needed is a time machine pedal. This song that a friend and I wrote back in the last century has a do...

Re: Variac or Step up transformer?
FWIW: oddly enough, I may be one of those here with a lot of experience with variacs ... except not in the context of music. In chemistry, they are used to control motors (e.g. stirrers) or heating mantles, as shown in this picture: P3091467A.jpg In this application, the variac was controlling the ...

Re: Variac or Step up transformer?
I can't comment on that particular unit, but I can probably tell you WAY more about Variacs than you ever wanted to know . A variac is a fairly simple device, it's just an "auto-transformer" with a variable tab. An auto-transformer only has one coil instead of separate input and output co...

Re: Any Fretless Ric 4080 or Bass Manufactured, Want to Listen
Hello there, I want to know that is there any factory made fretless 4080 or other Fretless bass from Rickenbacker ? How they sounded ? I want to listen too much. Thank you, Mustafa Umut Sarac Istanbul This is the '04 4003FL I used to have (another forum member has the bass these days). I have the b...

Re: Potentiometers and Bartolini pickups on 4001
I have a burgundyglo 4001 with Bartolini pickups. I like it a lot. Always have, since I got it. When changing strings today, I opened it up. Looks to be the original wiring harness, except that I bypassed the bass blocker cap. I measured the potentiometers. Both volume pots are 227K, bass tone is 5...

Very cool to hear a more "classic" Squire kind of tone out of Paul.
How about "Day Tripper" with Squire.
