'Polythene' by Rya
Did this one just before Christmas. It's just bass, guitar (my Rick 330), drums, one lead vocal, one backing vocal. I used a lot of drive on the bass, it was very distorted. As with all my recordings for a long time, the Rick goes through a Leeds pedal and then a little spring reverb is added. I don...

'Cathy Palmer' - Rya
I don't like making videos, I find it a laborious process and they never come out as well as I hope; lack of money, lack of technology, lack of interest. Great promotion huh? Anyway, here's the video I made for 'Cathy Palmer'. It's blessfully short.

'The Town Planner's Dreams Go Wrong' - Rya
https://soundcloud.com/rya66/townplanners Here's our new song, I hope you like it. Another simple recording consisting of Bass, Drums, 2 guitars (my Rickenbacker 330), and 2 vocals. The last song I took to the band was a reggae one and their response was 'Can't you write a fast one?', so this was a...

'Henry' by Rya
https://soundcloud.com/rya66/henry I don't like them all we do, but I like 'Henry'. Maybe it's because it was written and recorded very quickly so we haven't had time to get bored with it yet. It's fun to play. Nothing unusual in the instrumentation; two guitars (my rickenbacker 330), bass, drums, ...

'Alice' by Rya
https://soundcloud.com/rya66/alice It's a bit quiet over here these days, isn't it? Must admit I've been rather lazy myself since the new year, but here's something I've finally got around to finishing off. As with all the other recordings, my Rickenbacker 330 is the only 6 string used. I hope you ...

Re: 'Victoria's Candy' by Rya
Cool! What's the filter on the lead at the beginning? Sounds similar to my old DOD FX25B Envelope Filter, but maybe a little different. Thanks, glad you like it. The lead riff is played thru an Electro Harmonix Micro Q Tron envelope filter pedal. After that it goes into a Tech 21 Leeds. The Leeds i...

'Victoria's Candy' by Rya
https://soundcloud.com/rya66/victorias-candy Here's our last recording for 2017 and it's something a little different. This song was written as a bit of a joke for a girl at work who always returns from her frequent holidays with bags full of candy. She is from Estonia and never really caught on th...

'Why Can't You Be Me?' by Rya
https://soundcloud.com/rya66/whycantyoubeme A new addition to the band's set and a very quick recording with just one guitar (my Rickenbacker 330), bass, drums, and two vocals. On the subject of my Rickenbacker, I must say that I've never been very impressed with the finish, it's never looked very ...

'Another Time, Another Place' by Rya
https://soundcloud.com/rya66/another-time-another-place Hello and here's our latest recording. As usual all the guitar parts are played on my 330. I think I recorded 4 guitar tracks on this song. All my songs are very simple in their structure and this one is no exception, with just 4 chords thru-ou...

Re: 'The Brave New World' by Rya
Thanks Robert, I'm glad you like it, it's a favourite of mine at the moment too. It's fun and easy to play. We're still gigging around the Oslo area of Norway although gigs are not that easy to come by. We play about once a month, but would like to do more. Been trying to find a residency somewhere....

'The Brave New World' by Rya
https://soundcloud.com/rya66/the-brave-new-world Keep on writing, keep on recording, and the band keeps on playing. We're having fun and this is our latest tune which we enjoy playing very much (except the bass player who finds the bass line boring). A very simple recording consisting of bass, drums...

*Candy Hearts & Plastic Flowers' - a new year, a new song
Happy new year everyone. Here's a song we've been playing live since last Spring, but only just got around to finishing the mix of. Can't say that I'm completely happy with it, but got bored with tinkering and just wanted to move on. It goes down well live, but sometimes it can be hard not to laugh ...

'Here Comes The Weekend' is our new recording
It's been a while since I had time to finish anything, but now I got a day off I thought I'd get this one out of the way. Written on holiday during the summer and recorded using my standard instrumentation of Rickenbacker 330, Hammond organ, drums, 2 vocals, and bass guitar. The song was put togethe...

Re: Here is our first new recording of '16
What I don't quite understand is how this post can have over 1600 views and yet the song it has a link to has only 106 listens. That seems to imply either that people are clicking on the post NOT to listen to the track it contains (which doesn't make sense to me) or that Soundcloud's stats are way o...

'Bless em all' by Rya. (live in Hamburg '16)
The band had a good trip to Hamburg. It's certainly a better scene there for the kind of music we do. We're already planning to return next summer. Here is a clip of us playing a song at one of the gigs. As always, I am using my Rickenbacker 330, the same one I use on the recordings. The sound is st...
