Re: Question about finishes

I can vouch for CV checking if it's exposed to extreme temperatures, and it is only in the top layer and fine. My 620/12 'Ruby' was stored for a number of years in an uncontrolled environment (Australian summer!). I was upset when I discovered, however I've become more relaxed over time and see it a...

Re: Skunks are back

Hi Folks. I'm guessing is it's for aesthetics. There will be some structural improvement in having a skunk stripe of a different timber (walnut?), but not that much over the 2-piece necks. Also, there are plenty of 1-piece neck 4003s out there that are very stable, like my '03 model. Skunks are not ...

Re: New Server, New forum

Hi Folks. An issue I've noticed is being unable to upload pics to Register records. The eBay API has been stuffed for a while and now when using Image Manager to upload I get PHP errors and the file doesn't save. You get an empty image file in the record. I don't know if this is associated with the ...

An alternative material you can try to reduce movement is PFTE gas-fitter or plumber's tape.

Re: My serial number has been registered to another bass?

Hi Emily, It's always nice to say Hi to a fellow OZ-person. There could be all sorts of things happening here; an error in the recorded serial in the register, a parallel import from the US, or a 'B-stock' item returned to RIC and sent out here for sale. Assuming the latter two, you can drop a line ...

Re: Get Back

It reminded me of when I started work after leaving school. Not only did almost everybody smoke, you could also smoke at your desks. In fact management supplied ash trays to every desk, better to provide them than to deal with the ensuing mess across all the paperwork. Just about the only place you ...

Re: Strings for 360 12 String?

I've not been able to get RIC strings her in OZ for a number of years. On my 620/12 I've been using D'Addario EXL150's, nickel wound round wounds. For me they've been good - and easily available. I'd describe them as bright and springy with a good balance. For my use they last a year - as I change t...

Re: 12 string intonation help, please...

Hi Greg, The spring tensioning the saddle in the bridge may be rattling, too. When checking the buzz see if you can squeeze a tipex, or something small, against the spring to absorb any vibration. If it has super compressed over time it mightn't be doing it's job, or even be broken. That could also ...

Re: Aussie Roll Call

Hi Folks,

I just found the Aussie Chapter after a few years on the RRF. It's interesting what you don't know if you don't look. Mostly a lurker, but pop my head up from time to time. I'm located near Gosford on the Central Coast.
