Daniel, "always" is a little exaggerated. I have watched ebay for a 320 in good condition for quite some time and there has been none for years. If there was a 320, it was usually at least 20 years old with considerable wear. And I wanted a new guitar anyway.

Paul, I just heard from my luthier that he has no difficulties to remove the black color, because the guitar is so properly grounded, that it is easy to remove the black color. This means that my old 325V59 in jetglo will soon be a brand new looking one in mapleglo! I am already very excited! In the...

I know that this thread is about modifying a 300 series RIC, but I think it should be added that the best vibrato for any RIC is the "high performance vibrato system" available for the 650. So if you are looking for a RIC with a really good vibrato, it might be interesting to get a 650 C/D...

Jeff, that most people continue to listen to the music they listened to when they were young is also my observation. As a music teacher I think that this is one of the reason´s why a proper musical education is so important. But I also think that the more you try to keep an open mind and open heart ...

All these 320s and 325s in this thread look really beautiful. This thread shows what a very special guitar the 325 is and how much love and time so many musicians devote to it. So here is a picture of my modified 325V59 - as Kenny said - who wants to be like everyone else? So a long time ago the gol...

Jo, you are confusing things. I was talking about Brix Smith, not the Beach Boys ;-) ("... Ba Ba Ba Ba(r) Ba (R)a Ann ... Ba Ba Ba ..."). As far as I remember it was a white 330 with 6 strings. Unfortunately I haven´t got the record anymore. It was one of The Fall´s weaker records but the ...

John, I have said that before in your company forum. In my opinion you should think about your whole distribution system to Europe. It does not work properly as far as I can see - with the exception of England maybe. You could sell far more guitars over here if you had proper distribution. Why not a...

I am amazed how many interesting responses you can read in this thread. And after I have read your post, Jerry, I get the impression that maybe it makes a huge difference whether you have lived in the 60s, like you did, or not. I am 34 years old, so maybe the 60s are less impressive to me, although ...

Well, it took me some time and some modifications, replacing the accent vibrato, the roller bridge, changing the wiring, getting rid of the .0047 cap. But now I really like my 325C64. I have also found out what people like about the 7.4k pickups. For certain clean sounds they are great. And it is ev...

Modern Vs. Vintage

Hello everybody, I would like to start a new discussion about a topic that has been on my mind for quite some time now. As far as I can see most of you Rickenbacker enthusiasts are interested in vintage style guitars and a vintage style of music: The Beatles, The Byrds and the guitars they used ... ...

Paul, the luthier, who will do the refinishing for me, has also told me that we will have to see how the guitar looks like when the finish comes off. Then I will decide whether the guitar gets a transparent, "mapleglo" finish or something else - if I have the guitar refinished at all - I h...

On the 325V59 I did not do the rewiring myself - it was done at my request by the owner of the little shop, where I bought the guitar. I knew little about Rickenbacker guitars then and also did not like the gold pickguard and nameplate, so I asked him to exchange it for a white pickguard and namepla...

Yes, 12ks are hard to find, Kris. I have been looking for them on ebay for some time now (just in case ;-)) ... I have already changed the wiring of the guitar today - just the usual modification, that I also did to my 325V59 many years ago and that a lot of people have done with their three-pickup ...

I have also got a 325C64 for a few days now and I must say that I am not as happy about it as you, Daniel. If I compare it to my 325V59, which is my favorite guitar, there are a few things I do not like about the C64 at all: the slim headstock, the roller bridge, the accent vibrato, the 7.4k pickups...
