Re: It exists, a wide neck 360/12!
That would be a waste of two guitars. But I could easily build a replacement, wider neck for a 330/360, either 6 or 12. This sort of thing does not come cheap, though, which is probably why it seldom pops up. If you want a price idea, write me off-list, and be sitting down.

Guitar sold. Why do I have the feeling this is going to be a Witty?

Sounds like it falls into to the category of: "If you got'a ask..."jingle_jangle wrote:That would be a waste of two guitars. ME TOO! I hope Mr Hall is listening.I have dreamed of a 360/12 with a 660/12 width neck.
Re: It exists, a wide neck 360/12!
.Rick has made the wider spacing used in 330/12s, standard across the entire range, including the bound-neck 360s
Huh??? Maybe I'm missing something here, but from what I can see, the 660 and 660/12 are the only Ricks that have the wider neck (1.75 at nut instead of the standard 1.63). My 2 cents is that a 360/12 with 21-frets (ala the Carl Wilson model) with a wider 1.75 nut width
for all us fat fingered fanatatics would be freekin fabulous.

The 330/12 and 360/12 previously had different spacing, with the 360/12 being tighter due to the binding. The two models now share the same nut (as of '05 or so?).

Note my giveaway qualifier: the spacing of the 330/12 (not 660/12).
Re: It exists, a wide neck 360/12!
it doesn't have to be *crazy expensive* get one of those "project" thing bodies from ebay and have someone to build new neck for it to your specs ....it could be great mistake imho to ruin two completely good guitars 360/12 + 660/12 to achieve the same result.
i was for a while looking into doing the same thing but after chip little aka winfield refreted my 370/12 mcguinn and put new nut on it i got exactly what i was looking for. the frets go over binding and are bit taller and it has wider spacing at the nut. so i sent him 67 360/12mg to do the same and with 7.25 radius it is even better - it has more space...it is just the easiest 12er to play i ever had - period.

What does the effective, frettable neck width turn out to be with this conversion?grazioso wrote:it doesn't have to be *crazy expensive* get one of those "project" thing bodies from ebay and have someone to build new neck for it to your specs ....it could be great mistake imho to ruin two completely good guitars 360/12 + 660/12 to achieve the same result.

+ about 1-1.5mm on both sides - it could look like nothing but it was enough for me.

Re: It exists, a wide neck 360/12!
I think I may have one--at least it's wider than the standard 1 5/8--I bought a nut from Rickystrings to space out the pairs on a {July 1995) 360/12 V64 I bought new and it was too narrow. The TRC does not go to the edges of the fingerboard--I am at a loss to explain how this happened, but it plays great. Also added a 12 saddle bridge from Ric.
Re: It exists, a wide neck 360/12!
Since this thread was started, Rickenbacker fixed the whole problem by releasing the 1993Plus. One day, my fat fingertips and I will have one...

Agreed. My 1993plus is exquisite in every way IMO.scott_s wrote:Since this thread was started, Rickenbacker fixed the whole problem by releasing the 1993Plus. One day, my fat fingertips and I will have one...
