I just saw a Youtube video from 1979 with Robin playing a black 425 with gold pickguard. Must be a late 50's early 60's as it has the metal TRC. The maple '59 450 with gold pick guard and Johnny Ramone debunked myth is well known. I've never seen this one. Hmm. Same guitar painted black and reconfigured? The first sighting of his maple 450 was Jan 11, 1978 in Houston, so this is well after that but I've never seen any other photos or video of the black one.

Debunked myth?
It is the same exact guitar, no doubt about it. Zander may have had nothing to do with buying a stolen guitar but it’s still the same guitar.

I love the 425/450 series guitars! the Robin Zander/Johnny Ramone connection is exactly what lead to my ‘59 425.
Collin, you seem so sure of it! what’s led you to believe it’s the same guitar? I’m still skeptical but I’ve only ever been able to find 5 or 6 pics of Johnny using his MG450 and none of them were of great quality.

I found a 60's 425 husk, added a DiMarzio and made it my Ramones Special -- even if it's nothing like Johnny Ramone's guitar. But it's in the spirit of it. I'm having trouble with pictures, but it's registered.
