Yep, one was on a guitar I own when I got it, and I did not know it was one of these fakes. It exploded after about a year or two - that's when I flipped the broken piece over and saw the telltale faker signs. I got very lucky that it exploded slowly and didn't damage the guitar. One day it was really out of tune and I couldn't figure out why, the next morning it was cracked through on one side, barely holding to the guitar. I've never cranked tuning machines down faster lolDerrick wrote:Me thinks that if Rickenbacker couldn't make this part without well known chronic self destructing, then you couldn't trust a fake from abroad.

Wow! Looks like he was booted from both Etsy and Reverb! Well, the Reverb shop is still there, but there are no listings.
Re: PLEASE - Help Me!
Thank you both. I tried reaching out to Mark. Hopefully it's a current contact and he gets my inquiry. Why does it have to be so difficult, Rickenbacker! Your poorly made tailpieces are exploding all over the place and you make it impossible to get a replacement. Having to pay to fix the flaw is bad enough.
Re: PLEASE - Help Me!
If you did not get the tailpiece (link, above; sold yesterday).... consider:
Metal-to-metal epoxy repair.

...looks like a second chance for that previously listed tailpiece...

It seems to be listed on eBay also...
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rickenbacker-R ... SwzJBgPWw7
$25 cheaper, but still expensive.
