I’m really don’t know much about Rickenbacker guitars, but I am curious about one particular model, an early 1960’s 330F. I believe the F stands for full body, but it is unclear to me what this means a exactly. What particular features differentiates a 330F from a standard 330? Are there any particular years of this model from the early 60’s that are particularly rare and valuable? I would appreciate any information you can provide to educate me on this model of Rickenbacker.

The 330F is a rare and valuable guitar. The differences it and a standard 330 should be pretty apparent when compared side-by-side.

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. What a gorgeous instrument. In the instrument pictured above, it looks like it has P90 style pickups. I thought the Rickenbackers of that era used toaster style pickups. Can you clear that up for me? Oh, and 330Fs come in both single and double cutaways?

I don't think the first photo in John's post is showing (at least it isn't for me).

The second photo that I think you're referring to is a bog standard modern 330 model in Fireglo.

None of these guitars ever had a P90 style pickup. They are all single coils (both toaster and Hi Gain varieties). The 330F models (along with all other Rickenbackers during that era) had toaster pickups.

All F-model guitars were single cutaway with a similar profile/silhouette to an early Gibson ES-175.
