Vox AC15C1 creamback

Post by peterjcb »

I just picked up a Vox AC15C1 limited white bronco (creamback speaker) as blemished but brand new with full warranty ( I couldn't find any blemish on it... :) )
All I can say is WOW!....this is the best amp that I've ever played on. Side by side with my AC30VR you can hear the difference. The AC15 just sounds so vintage, more richer.
Even though the 15 is smaller than the 30 they both weigh about 50 pounds which is very manageable.
I don't know if it's the Celestion Creamback alnico speaker or the tubes or both....but you can really hear the difference just on the clean channel with the same settings.
I love my AC30VR is a great amp for when you want to use the overdrive channel at low volume and I don't have any plans to sell it.
If I had to choose just one there would be no contest....the AC15 wins hands down...

Nice. Curious, where is it made?

I must behind the times as I didn't realize that Celestion offered an Alnico Creamback.

I play a standard AC15C1 and it is indeed a super amplifier

the amp is made in China now to Vox specs....I'm not quite sure if the speaker magnets are ceramic or alnico but they sound fantastic!
I would consider replacing the 2 12" speakers in my AC30VR but the cost wouldn't warrant it as it would be almost what I paid for the whole amp...
The amp is loud also....I'd say it's just as loud or louder than the AC30VR

Looks like a great amp, and I'm sure it gets quite loud. My old early '70s Princeton Reverb was around 12 watts and very loud, as was my former Swart STR-Tremolo at only 5 watts!
