I’d add….
The Nerves - Hanging on the Telephone
And
Stiv Bators - Not That Way Anymore
Classic Ric tones on those two tracks

Interesting that a Rickenfaker was included in the list (Joy Division, Transmission)...unless I'm mistaken Peter Hook used a Hondo 4001 copy during that era.

I didn't know Prince used a Rickenbacker on Purple Rain. Or that Radiohead used one on Creep.
Cool to see Sleep and Kyuss on there.

Interesting photo to use of the Beatles. John with his twelve string and Jimmy Nichols on drooms. Good read!

An interesting list, which - as all such lists inevitably must do - shows off the musical tastes of its creators.
Another mistake: "Amateur Hour" by Sparks. I remember hearing a radio documentary several years ago in which the Mael brothers told the story of how their bassist, Martin Gordon, first recorded his part using a 4001, but Ron and Russell didn't like the sound it made, so they insisted that he re-record his part using a Fender Precision, and that's the version that was released.

Pretty good list, and unlike the vast majority of them, it covers the extensive use of Rickenbackers during the punk rock, hardcore and post-punk eras. Bands ranging from the Sex Pistols to Black Flag and Fugazi - all prominently used a Rick, yet it's almost never discussed.
I would add The Misfits to this list (bassist Jerry Only used 4001s for the entirely of the band's original run).

I dunno...I can't get behind any list of Rickenbacker songs that doesn't include The Byrds. Must have been compiled by some clueless millennial.
Re: The Impact of Rickenbacker: 90 years, 90 songs
Drum Bob: Happy New Year 2022! It is unfortunate that The Byrds were omitted from this list, however, Roger McGuinn does get a mention in the third paragraph. While the Byrds are not discussed, Turn Turn Turn is second in the song list and their name is posted there. I expect that future updates will speak to a number of omissions. That said, it is a good first start in my view and it is a potent reminder of the history and role played by Rickenbackers over the years. For me the list is a nice resource and I wouldn't want to throw the baby out with the bath water. I would be interested in what you found positive about the article? When I think back on all the things I learned in high school, I am reminded that I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
