And the big slant frets!!! Oooops, never mind.

That is going to be very special once the paint hits the body.

Yeah, so the paint hit the body over the last 2 weeks...but first, the sharp edges on top and back transitioning into the German-carved perimeter were softened a la Mosrite, at the customer's request. It looks great this way.

It's got a fretboard like my Jazz-Bo (bound with both checkerboard and white celluloid), wider neck, larger dot markers, sparkly crushed MOP fret markers, and vintage knobs. We tried silver top knobs, but they were a bit much. Note the 1/8" thick bridge base, necessary so the bridge could be adjusted in its normal range, given the 3 degree neck set. Vintage RIC tuners, a '66 toaster at the neck and new toaster at the bridge.

Paint was a copy of the customer's favorite vintage Gibson burst, with deeply ambered binding that the photos wash out a bit. Strings are vintage flatwound nickel Pyramids. Neck is nice and straight.

I really love the way the smoothed-out transition on the german carve looks - even the f-hole looks right on this 381! 8)

Paul, did the case need any adjustment due to the neck angle as well?

The angle is built into the neck tenon.

I assumed that, but didn't any neck support have to be lowered then?
