Following her stroke last February, my Mom, Benita, has struggled to regain her former health and alertness. She has moved from ICU to a nursing home and back again several times, and was placed into a hospice earlier this week. She just celebrated her 86th birthday.

She quietly passed away this morning at 8:30 CST. Her struggle is over and she is now at rest.

I will be in Chicago until Wednesday next.

My sympathies, Paul. Tough, but as you said, her struggles are over. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Paul,

My late Mother's greatest fear was that she would linger for a long time with illness. When the time came, she went very quickly, which I am sure she felt was a blessing. I am sorry to hear of your Mother's passing but she is probably relieved to have the suffering over with and making it to 86, she lived a full life and, no doubt, touched many hearts. For that you can be thankful. My condolences to you and your family. I am sure she will be missed.
