Was it Jeff Scott ?

Post by VRICKY63 »

I was preparing my V63 for an ebay sale but after reistalling the tail piece , horseshoe and doing the scratch X - Zymol treatment she looked so nice I cant let go . So.....Ive seen the horseshoe covers bent upwards a little for better string spacing and also for that original look . Was it Mr Scott that did this and how ? I would post photos but this site always says they are too big :?

That photo is from the first set I bent. I came up with a better way for the second pickup. Remove the shoes (the pickup's, not yours!) and put a 3/8" or 1/2" stud that is just long enough to fit between the tangs of the shoe inside the gap, with two nuts at each end of the stud. To help protect the finish on the inside of the shoes place a small piece of sheet metal between the nuts and the inside surfaces of the shoes. Using two open end wrenches turn the nuts slowly in opposite directions forcing the tangs to spread apart. Widen the gap a little bit farther than the spacing you finally want as once you release the pressure on the tangs they will close up a bit. That's all there is to it, very easy to do with stuff easily obtained at your local hardware store.
