The Box...

Post by Elnjaybass »

VAN NUYS,
CA, US 01/20/2009 11:58 P.M. ARRIVAL SCAN

I want to see "Delivered" real soon.

It's about 6 AM in Los Angeles, CA.
The temperature is supposed to drop from the 80's to a near-freezing 60-something degrees today; may rain tonight.

In this box that I am waiting for, from UPS- It weighs in at 24 lbs.
Inside is a Rickenbacker 4003 in FireGlo, coming to me here in SoCal, from the great State of Texas.

At first, the dealer did not want to sell it to me, because he's "had trouble with Credit Card purchases in the past, and I can sell this bass in a few weeks..." Yes, so why go to the trouble of shipping it and all??

Well, I employed my vast powers of persuasion and my charms, and that along with a Wire Transfer of funds got me one of the only FG Ric 4003's I could find....

It will arrive (damn it, it BETTER) today 2 weeks to the day after I got my 1st Rickenbacker Bass, a MG Laredo.

I know I've been a rather shy and inarticulate and infrequent poster here, not sharing my thoughts and feelings about what I think of the Ric basses, and for that, forgive me, I'm after all, just a simple Country Boy...

Perhaps, Perhaps after this box arrives and I open it, I may be inspired to share some of my emotions and inner feelings as to whether I like and enjoy this new Rickenbacker...

Remember! I've never even PLAYED a 4003...

Gosh, do you think I'll like it?? :?:

I'll let ya know....

You'll like it better than the Larado.

The Larado's and CII's are very nice,, dont get me wrong, but the tone and feel of a 4003 is a completely different animal.

Don't underestimate what a 4003 can do... like Bass Player apparently has in their recent review of Roland's new bass processor (some comment about the RICK model's "prog like snarl"). Their tonal versatility stretches all over the map and the newest ones are some of the sweetest ones yet. The only people I've ever talked to who've been disappointed lately are people who bought them on MF, got one with a ding on it somewhere somehow, and weren't smart enough to realize they could use their warranty to get a better instrument.
